Man of Steelwas the movie that propelled Henry Cavill to global popularity, but even though he nailed the role of Superman/Clark Kent, he could not have done some of the emotional scenes without the help of his costars. The actor credits veteran stars Diane Lane and Kevin Costner for helping him out.

The pair portrayed Jonathan and Martha Kent, the adoptive parents of Superman. As someone who has been in the industry longer than Cavill, they understand the difficulty of delivering tricky scenes, so they were both ready to assist the younger star.
Henry Cavill Reveals How Diane Lane and Kevin Costner Assisted Him InMan Of Steel
Speaking withInterview Magazine, actorHenry Cavillshared howDiane LaneandKevin Costnerwere willing to help him while filming his scenes inMan of Steel.
“They’re both really good people and enormously giving. Kevin and Diane were both there to do off-camera stuff for some of my scenes. I mean, Kevin was standing 200 meters down the road for a scene where the camera was only on me — the guy really didn’t have to do that. But he really helped me because he clearly knows that when you’re in a situation where you’ve having an emotional moment, you want the other actor there.”

This was very generous of Costner to volunteer and stand on the other side so Cavill would know where to look and make the scene as natural and believable as possible. He also said viaFilm3Sixty:
“Working with Diane Lane and Kevin Costner was fantastic. I mean, they played Martha and Jonathan Kent, respectively, and to work with two actors of that caliber and that experience, there’s a certain sort of something special about working with that.”

Cavill expressed interest in working with Costner and Lane in the future, which was something he hoped to happen had there been another DCEUSupermanfilm or probably in a different franchise.
“To work with them again was a genuine pleasure, and I hope I get the opportunity to work with them again whether on this or something else.”
