Best Build for Vermillion Feathers

One important thing you need to know about the Vermillion Feathers boss fight is that it’s best to play as aggressively as possible. The more pressure you apply to Vermillion Feathers, the more her attack patterns will be disrupted.

I recommendusing the Scorn Greataxefor this very reason. This particular axe hashigh blunt damagefor staggering and can be great at putting the boss in a stun lock. It also has a greatunique skill that deals high damage and applies Burn.

The most important pieces of this build are the armor set and Jade Pendants.Vermillion Feathers' moveset consists of Feathering attacks,so it’s crucial to have armor that has high resistance to that damage type.

As forthe Jade Pendants, each of these complement the Scorn Greataxe and further increases the amount of damage we can inflict on Vermillion Feathers.

Vermillion Feathers Moveset

Vermillion Feathers has a moveset that can quickly knock you down if you aren’t prepared. Luckily, her attack cues have clear indicators, unlike some other bossesin the game.

The grid below has the full moveset of Vermillion Feathers in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Take a look.

Description

Feather Shield

Vermillion Feathers brings out a shield and if the player attacks it, she smacks the player away. Don’t even attempt to attack this shield. There’s no way to avoid getting struck by it unless you’re using magic.

Raining Feathers

Vermillion Feathers goes into the air and shoots an array of arrows at the player. These arrows hone in on you. This can be dodged by running or dodging continuously in the opposite direction.

Sword Strikes

The boss will lunge forward, swinging her sword a few times. Each strike comes with a second between each, so time your dodges accordingly.

Bloody Earth

Vermillion Feathers creates a pool of blood around her, reaching into the ground and eventually creating a burst that damages the player. you may either stay away or dodge the burst to avoid damage.

Projectile Slash

Vermillion Feathers will stomp down, spin around and then toss a red projectile toward the player. Usually just one projectile, but sometimes it’s two. Dodge through the projectile.

Feathering Stab

This attack usually comes after the Projectile Slash. Honglan’s sword will turn red and she will stab forward. Sometimes she stabs multiple times, so be prepared to dodge multiple times.

Vermillion Feathers shows her red wing and swipes it three times at the player. Dodge backward three times in quick succession.

How to Beat Vermillion Feathers

Vermillion Feathers always starts off with the same attack. Immediately after entering the arena, she will execute her Raining Feathers attack.

This is the perfect time for you to use acharged attack on her back, knocking her down for an Obliterate Attack. She gets staggered here every single time if done right.

From there on out, you want toattack Vermillion Feathers aggressivelythroughout the entire fight. Remaining close to her and attacking as much as your stamina can handle is a great way to interrupt her attack patterns. In other words,it’s possible to stun lock her if you continuously attack.

Whenever you manage to knock Vermillion Feathers down, perhaps after an Obliterate Attack, make sure to follow up immediately with a Charged Attack or Weapon Skill for extra damage.

For reference, I was able to drain a third of her health bar by applying pressure and nonstop attacking with my Scorn Greataxe. However, it’s important to stay on your toes and be prepared to dodge as she will eventually escape the stun lock.

Whenever you see Vermillion Feathers bring out hergiant red shield, stop attacking immediately. If you land a single hit on her shield, she will knock you back and deal a ton of damage to your health bar.

In case you are damaged, or you don’t have a high Vitality stat, it’s possible that this attack will instantly kill you.

Survival games can be tough, but these best survival games test even the most experienced survivalist with their Soulslike elements.

When Vermillion Feathers reaches into the ground and creates a large blood of pool, feel free to run away to avoid taking any damage here. However, it might be smarter if you don’t.

Personally,I used this time to rush in and execute charged heavy attacksand myColossal Smash abilityto deal damage while she’s in the attack animation.

Since the attack animation of the blood pool is so long, you can really deal some serious damage here. If you do this, though, be prepared to take damage too.

As previously mentioned, playing as aggressively as possible against Vermillion Feathers will lead you to victory. Besides that, make sure touse Temperance to buff your weaponfor stronger attack power.

I recommend increasing the amount ofTemperance chargesyou have by unlocking the Temper nodes on the Impetus Repository.
