Fresh off the release of the newest content update forWorld of Warcraft, patch 11.2’s Ghosts of K’aresh, gamescom 2025 gave us the first in-depth look at the nextWorld of Warcraft expansion, Midnight.
The second entry in the planned Worldsoul Saga trilogy looks to take us back to QWuel’Thalas, first introduced in The Burning Crusade expansion, and focuses on the forces of the void invading Azeroth.

Holly Longdale, the Executive Producer and Vice President for World of Warcraft, took to the gamescom stage to preview what’s in store for the 11th expansion inBlizzard Enteratinment’s long-runningMMORPG. “Midnight is about light, about hope, and about heroes that rise up when we need them most, and it all starts at the Sunwell,” she said, hinting at the game’s return to the iconic setting for some of the most important moments in Warcraft history.
It’s also the long-awaited introduction ofplayer housingin World of Warcraft, which is set to launch before the Midnight expansion.

The second chapter of The Worldsoul Saga™ begins. You’ll return to the legendary kingdom of Quel’thalas then adventure through new and reimagined zones in search of new allies in the battle against Xal’atath. Experienced the reimagined zones of Eversong Woods and Zul’aman where you’ll be immersed in familiar but new settings. Journey to Harandar the bioluminescent primordial jungle sitting at the confluence of the world trees' great roots, then discover a distant world ravaged by the void where predation reigns supreme and threats lurk within every shadow of the hostile landscape.
Released separately from the Opening Night Live Show, a gameplay reveal trailer showcases the new Allied Race of the Haranir, as well as the long-awaited third Demon Hunter class spec, Devourer.
Before Midnight launches, there’s still plenty more World of Warcraft to keep you busy. Mists of Panadia Classic recently launched to a great start, and the upcoming Legion Remix event is set to go live later this year.
The Worldsoul Saga will wrap up with The Last Titan expansion, which promises to take us back to Northrend, the setting for Wrath of the Lich King.
Despite the debut of the new cinematic trailer, there’s no confirmed release date for World of Warcraft: Midnight at this time, other than 2026. The game will launch with three separate editions: the Base version ($49.99), the Heroic Edition ($69.99), and the Epic Edition ($89.99). The Epic Edition comes with 3 days of Early Access, guaranteed entry in the beta, and is rumored to give players early access to player housing.
