There is little doubt that Batman is arguably the most iconic superhero featured in the DC Universe. The superhero has been given a range of live-action and animated iterations, and among them, the Bruce Timm creations across the DC Animated Universe stands out for a variety of reasons.

One particular scene, taken straight from DC’sThe New Frontiercomics arc, featured in 2008’sJustice League: The New Frontier, and saw Batman make his presence known to Martian Manhunter, portrayed by Harry Lennix in Zack Snyder’s DCEU. The scene, which featured an utterly badass dialogue by Bruce Wayne, stands out as one of the most badass scenes ever, featuring Gotham’s caped crusader.
ThisJustice League: The New Frontierscene might never be matched in DC live-action
The scene itself was a creation of Darwyn Cooke, who initially put it inThe New Frontiergraphic novel, and perfectly captured the essence of multiple big DC players. That includes Batman, who in a particular scene, delivered a stunning dialogue to Martian Manhunter, also known as J’onn J’onzz.

The character, who takes up the disguise of General Calvin Swanwick on Earth, believes that his real identity is perfectly hidden from the world, which of course, also includes Bruce Wayne. However, Batman pays him a visit, and effectively destroys any semblance of confidence that Martian Manhunter may have had, with a simple dialogue:
I’m not sure what you are or where you come from, but my instincts tell me you’re to be trusted. Make no mistake, though. I have a seventy-thousand dollar sliver of radioactive meteor to stop the one from Metropolis. With you, all I need is a penny for a book of matches.

The Gotham superhero then slinks away into the darkness, and leaves a devastated J’onn J’onzz on the floor, who simply cannot believe the stunning exchange that he has had.

Perfectly capturing the sometimes sinister and perfectly badass nature of Batman, the scene single-handedly depicts everything that fans have grown to love, about the iconic superhero.
ThisThe New Frontierscene could not be matched even by Zack Snyder’s darker iteration of Bruce Wayne/Batman
The moment, and the dialogue, not only leaves behind a chill for the viewers, it also exposes exactly how far-fetched Batman’s methods can be, in his bid to protect Gotham and its residents. While the character itself has seen plenty of live-action iterations, coming up with a scene as sinister as the one mentioned above has not been possible.
This is despiteZack Snyder’sdarker, more seasoned Batman that we see being portrayed byBen Affleck. While this version of the Batman had more than his fair share of questionable tactics, which were on full display particular inBatman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, the character still lacked the raw moral ambiguity which was very evident when it came toThe New Frontier.

That, despite Ben Affleck’s laudable performance as the superhero, remains a comic and animated movie-exclusive.The New Frontierthrew at fans a Batman who was not only willing to go to any length, he also had plenty of sinister one-liners enough that were enough to make any enemy miserable.
Whether that be due to his willingness to exceed traditional boundaries, or his willingness to come up with mildly-disguised threats, this particular iteration of Batman continues to remain unparalleled.
