The Undertaker’s commitment to risking his body for fans’ entertainment has solidified his legendary status, having collaborated with top names during his time in the company, including the likes of The Rock, Triple H, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and many more. The Undertaker eventually retired from the ring back in 2020.

There are many iconic wrestlers that The Deadman never did get to face in his career, but he did face the likes of Hulk Hogan and it appears the two superstars really didn’t like each other.

WWE Legend Mentored By The Rock’s Father Detested The Undertaker

The Undertaker is renowned for his reverence toward professional wrestling, always giving his all whenever he steps into the ring. Throughout his career, he has shown disdain for those who don’t share his dedication to the craft.

Despite their past main event rivalry for the WWF Championship in the early ’90s, The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan didn’t cross paths again until 2002, when Hogan captured the WWE Undisputed Championship. During their championship match at Judgment Day that year, The Undertaker attempted to execute a chokeslam on Hogan at the climax of the bout, but Hogan failed to fully commit to the move.

This resulted in what many consider one of the most lackluster executions of the move in wrestling history, prompting The Undertaker to share some choice words with Hogan in the ring. Undoubtedly, these words were filled with disappointment and frustration. Not just that, there was a lot of animosity between the two as The Hulkster intentionally tried to accuse The Undertaker of injuring him.

The Undertaker Blames Sting’s Retirement For Ruining His Plans For A Pro Wrestling Return

The Undertakerofficially retired from wrestling in 2020 after his last bout against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36. However, he recently shared that he entertained the thought of returning to the ring, especially if Sting hadn’t retired.

The idea of The Phenom facing off against The Franchise of WCW has long been a dream match for fans, but it has remained elusive, existing mainly in speculation. Despite briefly sharing the WWE stage in 2015, circumstances never allowed for a showdown between these iconic legends.

In an exclusiveQ&A on his Patreon platform, Undertaker revealed a moment of reflection during a return trip from Australia. He discussed with his wife, Michelle McCool, the possibility of a comeback, but ultimately decided against it.

“It’s still a tough decision for me. I’m still grappling with it. I may have mentioned to my wife recently that I was considering a comeback. Luckily, I managed to talk myself out of it,” he said. “No, there won’t be another match. I just got back from Australia, feeling tired and knowing I have a lot of commitments ahead. That was just me thinking out loud. That’s the only thing I’m certain of. Don’t get your hopes up. There won’t be another match. Don’t even think about it.”

“Well, you know, if Sting hadn’t retired, maybe. He ruined everything. I got new knees and then he decided to retire… Oh my gosh, we’re going to get so much backlash for that.”

His retirement match

Despite near misses for the dream match, including a potential bout at WrestleMania 31, plans never materialized. Now retired and beyond their prime, The Undertaker vs. Sting remains one of the most significant “What if?” scenarios in the history of professional wrestling.
