MultiVersus Says Goodbye to the Support Role, and People Aren’t Happy
MultiVersusfinally is nearing its full release after almost a year of waiting. Not only did we geta brand-new trailer, but leaks are spilling out left and right. One leak, however, has left a sour taste in fans’ mouth.
According to the X/Twitter account MultiverSusie, the game is completely getting rid of the Support role that it had.

aw i liked the support role
When people heard the news, needless to say, they were upset. The decision to remove the role entirely was questioned by confused fans.

Why would they feel the need to get rid of that???
It’s typical for fighting games likeMultiVersusto mostly have 1v1 matches, so having a Support role was an interesting decision anddistinguished it from other games in the genre.

MultiVersus Stands on Shaky Ground as People Are Unsure of Its Relaunch
After the free-to-play crossover fighting game from Warner Bros. Games and Player First Games went offline in June 2023, people weren’t sure if the project would continue.
It had been live for a year as an open beta, and while initial impressions were good, the game’s growth gradually began to slow down because of lesser updates and no new characters.
MultiVersus Leak Rumoured To Add Ted Lasso After Tony Soprano
When the game closed in June 2023 in preparation for a full release, it genuinely surprised many people; not many realized this was an open-beta product.
Not to mention, people had already spent money to obtain premium content, so imagine their surprise when the game was announced to shut down for the time being.
Now that the game is returning, it feels like a lot of the hype around the game has died down.
Fans had to wait a long time, there’s not been much marketing around the game, and the concept of a free-to-play brawler with microtransactions doesn’t seem to be appealing for some people.
That’s why, we’d like to ask you: Have you played the game? What are your thoughts on the Support role being permanently removed? Feel free to share your thoughts and feelings with us in the comments below!
