The finale episode ofLokiseason 1 has aired and it finally gave us some of the answers we were looking for. However, the theory that Immortus is the villain in Loki still remains unanswered.
Right now, Marvel fans have a lot of questions concerning who is Immortus and what his connection with Nathaniel Richards and Kang the Conqueror.
In this article, we shall uncover all of it so get ready for a barrage of information butthere are some spoilers forLokiepisode 6 in this article, so consider yourself warned!
Immortus In Marvel
In Marvel comics, Immortus has no superhuman powers, but he is a highly intelligent man who has advanced and extensive knowledge of time travel and manipulation of time.
Since Immortus is associated with the Time-Keepers, it was speculated that he will be the main villain inLokiTV show. However, thefinale episode of Lokifailed to mention the name Immortus at all.
Instead, we found out that the person behind TVA is known as He Who Remains aka Kang The Conqueror. But that doesn’t necessarily mean Immortus is not connected to them (more on this later).
Besides the above two, Immortus is also associated with Nathaniel Richards. So let’s uncover the truth behind all these identities and find out whether they are all the same person.
Who Is Nathaniel Richards?

Nathaniel Richards has taken different identities over the years and each identity has its own ever-expanding history. Born in 31st-century Nathaniel Richards is a scholar who is fascinated by history and discovers time travel technology.
He also finds out that there are different universes stacked on top of each other and invents a way to travel between parallel worlds to meet different versions of himself. (More explaination on this byHe Who Remainsin Loki).
Later on, he travels back in time to ancient Egypt aboard a Sphinx-shaped time-ship and becomes the Pharaoh Rama-Tut, with plans to claim En Sabah Nur — the mutant destined to becomeApocalypse(in X-Men) — as his heir.
Nathaniel continued to rule as Pharaoh Rama-Tut until he is ousted from this position by the Fantastic Four. And sometime later in his journey, he turns intoKang the Conqueror(which we will discuss later in the article).
Growing old, Rama-Tut begins seeking a way to achieve immortality where a branching point of his divergence begins. He studies the realm ofLimboand learns that it is a timeless place where he could live forever and decides to retire there to learn mastery of time.
Nathaniel Richards Becomes Immortus
After entering the Limbo, Rama-Tut (who is basically Nathaniel Richards) later reinvents himself as Immortus and begins following his destiny as Time Keeper.
Is Immortus the same person as Kang the conqueror?

The short answer is both yes and no. Let me explain why:
Limbo is a point where not only every moment in time can be seen, but it is also a place where divergences can occur. This is the case with Rama-Tut aka Nathaniel Richards.
While one version of Rama-Tut went on to Limbo to become Immortus, yet another looked into the time stream and saw Immortus' eventual servitude to the Time-Keepers.
Furious at the prospect of becoming a slave, the other Rama-Tut finds a new fire for conquest and returns to his empire in the 40th century, where he takes on a new identity as Kang the Conqueror.
So technically both Immortus and Kang emerge from the same timeline but they appear in alternate realities. This is why the answer gets a bit complicated as they originate from the person but they not quite the same.
