One of the main aspects ofOne Piecethat makes the series legendary is the fact that almost every major character in the series develops a fan following of their own. Their motives and the side they are on don’t matter as long as they have a cool personality and a connecting backstory. The prime example of this is Charlotte Katakuri, one of the Three Sweet Commanders of the Big Mom Pirates.
Katakuri is one of the strongest villains Luffy has ever faced, and even though he is part of Big Mom’s crew, fans have loved and appreciated his character a lot. Not only that, many believe that Katakuri might leave Big Mom Pirates, in the future and join the Straw Hat Pirates in their adventure of finding theOne Piecetreasure.
While this sounds bizarre, the belief of fans is based on the fact that Katakuri didn’t do anything story-related in the short screen time that he got. In fact, his portrayal during the Whole Cake Island arc gave fans the impression that his actions were actually heroic.

While Katakuri may seem like a ruthless and brutal character, he actually is quite decent and only maintains the persona of being dangerous to protect his family. This is because when he was a kid, a group of other kids used to tease him for his expanded mouth and torn cheeks, but he was able to stand up for himself against these bullies.

However, the bullies decided to take revenge on Katakuri by cutting his sister’s (Brulee’s) face. This angered Katakuri to the point where he literally destroyed them and vowed to protect his familyby getting strong and becoming the ruthless characterthat was seen during the Whole Cake Island arc inOne Piece.
Even his actions during Sanji and Pudding’s wedding had justifiable reasons behind them, as he was only trying to protect his family. In fact, Katakuri has never shown any malice or evil emotions towards any other character, and despite being Big Mom’s son, he has never even portrayed any desire to become an evil pirate like her.
Charlotte Katakuri Deserves A Spot in the Straw Hat Crew
Charlotte Katakuri might be the only villain inOne Piecewho never had any wrong intentions or did anything wrong for that matter. The only wrong thing was that he represented the Big Mom Pirates, who were already deemed the villains of the series. But his actions during the Whole Cake Island are perfectly justifiable from his perspective.
When things are looked at from Katakuri’s point of view, Luffy enters his mother’s territory and destroys his sister’s wedding. Not only that, he even tried to harm his mother, which resulted in him launching an attack on Luffy. But the reasons behind his attack were valid,making him the hero for the Big Mom Piratesand for some fans.

Therefore, Katakuri’s actions do not categorize him as a villain, and fans who think he should join the Straw Hat Pirates may not be wholly incorrect. While it is an unlikely scenario, ifEiichiro Odadevelops this narrative, it will bring the biggest change in theOne Piecestoryline.
