Unfortunately, FromSoftware’s art direction and storytelling methods aren’t always the easiest to wrap one’s mind around, and a player has confidently voiced this out.
Getting Into FromSoftware’s Universe Can Be Challenging for Some
The driving force behindElden Ring’ssuccess can be credited to a lot of different factors. Its many different playstyles offer unmatched diversity, and there’s a range of characters and stories that expand the Lands Between’s lore.

However, none of this is shown through a lot of cutscenes or dialogues as you might expect from other triple-A titles. Rather, FromSoftware often hides major chunks of its world-building in item descriptions and vaguely written scripts.
Players like Wyldfyre-Quinn are often victims of such vagueness and take to Reddit to voice their opinions. The user has expressed how even after 2 hours of gameplay, the storyline barely makes any sense.
To soothe the player’s anxieties, fellowElden Ringfans have tried answering questions for the user in the comments section and even suggested that they should simply stick to the game until things seem clearer.
Others admit that even after beating the game multiple times, the story never made sense to them and that’s okay according to their experience. Similarly, a lot of players in the community never worry too much about what’s really going on inElden Ring’suniverse.

All in all, it’s safe to say that more than FromSoftware, Hidetaka Miyazaki, or even George R.R. Martin combined, the game’s community is the sole contributor to making things easier for people to understand. Keeping that in mind, it’s best to keep our fingers crossed for the future of game.
Who knows, maybe we’ll even receive spin-off content in the form of books, comics, or even a TV series (or movie) that does a finer job of narrating the stories of the Lands Between.
