After years of waiting and anticipation,Rustwas finally released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 21st, 2021.
The PC and Console Editions live as two separate entities, with both receiving separate updates with different features. But one thing they both have in common is the monthly server wipe.
What Is The Server Wipe?
On the final Thursday of each month, the officialRustconsole servers will be wiped. Essentially, this means that players will lose all of their items, progression, and buildings.
There are multiple reasons for the developers wiping servers, mainly to stop groups of people becoming so looted that they ruin the experience of new players.
The first wipe for the Rust servers on the new Console Edition will take place today (June 24) and then occur at monthly intervals:
When the wipe happens, all of the official servers will be shut down for approximately 30 minutes. After this short downtime, the servers will come back online and everyone will start fresh with no items, weapons, or buildings.
