Doctor Strange 2begins by showcasing events from an alternate universe, where Stephen meets his demise at the hands of a demon while trying to help America Chavez. After that, Chavez opens a portal to Earth-616, where she meets our belovedDoctor Strange, who finds out that it is, in fact, Wanda who’s after Chavez for her powers. While fighting Wanda at the Kamar-Taj, Stephen and Chavez jump into another universe.

Incursion in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Explained
In Marvel, an Incursion is an event when the Earths of two universes collide with each other. Basically, it means two different realities crashing into each other. Of course, it destroys both realities, killing trillions of people from those universes. The only way to stop an Incursion is by destroying one of the two Earths. If you annihilate an Earth, its universe also meets its end. However, one universe must be destroyed to prevent the other one from meeting the same fate.
In the movie, we see the consequences of an Incursion whenDoctor Strangefinds himself in the Sinister Strange’s universe. The evil Strange caused this by using the Darkhold, and it looks like Earth-616 is now facing the same threat. That’s because MCU’sDoctor Strangealso used the Darkhold and broke the universal law.
