Stevie Nicks is best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac, an iconic band from the 70s that took the world by storm with songs likeLandslide,Go Your Own Way, andRhiannon. Nicks also built a career in music outside of the band as well, earning herself the tagline “Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll” following the release of her debut album. At the end of the day, all you need to know is that her voice can send shivers down your spine.
Nicks is known for having quite a quirky personality. Though she might come off as bubbly, fun, or incredibly fascinating, it’s not like life hasn’t ever thrown curveballs her way. Unfortunately, she had to make one of the toughest decisions during the late 70s, or else it meant the end for Fleetwood Mac.

Stevie Nickslived quite the life back in the day. She was known for having relationships with some of the biggest names in the music industry during the rise of Fleetwood Mac and her solo career. Surely, you might’ve heard about the infamous love triangle between her and two other Fleetwood Mac bandmates.
Don Henley was another individual Nicks discovered sparks with. Henley is best known as one of the founding members of the legendary Eagle band which gave birth to the rock and roll classic,Hotel California. But to her surprise, despite taking precautionary measures, Nicks got pregnant during their relationship.

While she never spoke about it as much in the past, theEdge of Seventeensinger revealed that she had no choice but to abort her and Henley’s child because it would’ve either broken up her band or made motherhood a thousand times harder to manage. In an interview withRolling Stone, she said,
I am not the kind of woman who would hand my baby over to a nanny, not in a million years. So we would be dragging a baby around the world on tour, and I wouldn’t do that to my baby…I wouldn’t say I just need nine months. I would say I need a couple of years, and that would break up the band, period.
While abortion was made legal in the United States in 1973, it was still a sensitive issue that not too many people were open to. To that, Stevie Nicks claims that she doesn’t care if anybody feels upset over her decision since it was her life and her plan to be a successful musician since the fourth grade.
Why didn’t the relationship between Stevie Nicks and Don Henley work out?
The answer to this is quite straightforward. According toFar Out Magazine, Stevie Nicks dropped the ball on what she thinks about marriage while speaking toABC Downtownin 2001. The icon simply claimed that it was her “mission” to create music to help mothers and wives feel better, but not to be one of them.
Nicks also told Rolling Stone that her short-lived relationship with Don Henley was “really fun” but since his band, the Eagles was much bigger than Fleetwood Mac, neither Henley nor his bandmates were ready to manage families.
Nicks briefly married a man named Kim Anderson, the widowed husband of her late best friend. Unfortunately, their union only lasted for three months before calling it quits. Nicks mentioned it being a terrible mistake as the two weren’t necessarily in love, but were trying to recover from their grief (viaVulture).
