So much so, that many fans are requesting a revival of his home series,Spider-Man: The Animated Series. However, if this renewal follows the formula of theX-Menseries, it is very likely to come across some backlash—a response that would be based on the mild criticism the new show has been getting.
Fans Want a Spider-Man Comeback AfterX-Men ’97
Spider-Man’s return in the eighth episode ofX-Men ’97has become all that Marvel fans can seem to talk about. While the entry, on its own, has a lot of significance for the series, many cannot help but ponder the what-ifs. What if this cameo and comeback was a hint at what could be expected from the franchise with its animated universe?

Some fansbelieve that the addition means thatSpider-Man: The Animated Serieswill get a treatment similar to the mutant show, getting to come back and finish its story after it was untimely canceled. They wish to let Marvel do its thing, as it is clearly working.

However, it is important to remember that while the new show stands on its own, replicating its formula on other projects may not have the most positive of responses.
Something Insignificant Could Turn Into Something Bigger
X-Men ’97took quite a unique approach when it came to its animation. Since the show was starting off exactly where it left off in 1997, the creators decided to keep the animation style exactly the same. This decision got quite a lot of mixed reviews from fans. While many were happy that the original theme was maintained, others were upset at the overall look of the show.
Although the negative feedback was not that significant, ifSpider-Man ’98were to follow a similar formula, it is very likely to become the case. When only one show takes such an approach, it is considered unique and creative.
