Vince McMahon’s Netflix documentary is out and it is dropping bombs left and right. As it explores the many allegations made against Vince McMahon himself, the documentary shines a light on other topics as well. This includes Hulk Hogan’s claims that he never used or abused steroids in his career.
Back in 1991, Hulk Hogan distanced himself from claims of steroid use to boost his physique. He proudly sat on the couch and even stated that he felt“insulted”when people would speculate about his physique and reduce his hard work to steroid abuse. Now, Vince McMahon’s documentary unravels the Hulkster’s statement.

The thing is, claims and speculations about wrestlers indulging in steroids have been there since time immemorial. While it is definitely unfair to those who work hard to get where they are, it is also important to call out the others.

During his 1991 appearance onThe Arsenio Hall Show,Hogan proceeded to clear the air regarding his steroid abuse allegations. He stated,
I was 196 pounds when I was 10. When I graduated from high school, I was 300 pounds and right now I am about 295. So, basically, I was insulted when basically the inferences of the speculation said, ‘Well all you just take a pill or shot to the butt every day to get to look like Hulk Hogan.’
He then went on to add that he had worked for 20 years to reach his peak physique, training two hours every day.

The Netflix docuseries,Mr. McMahon,was released on September 25, coveringVince McMahon’s rise and fall in pro wrestling. During one of the episodes, a video clip fromThe Arsenio Hall Showis shown where Hogan denied using steroids.
In the clip, McMahon says,“That’s not what happened. It was like, ‘Oh god please. You know, just tell the truth. It’s so much easier.”

The documentary then cuts to other clips from WWE legends who refuted Hogan’s earlier claims with one of them stating,“He lied like a dog!”The next clip shown was of wrestler Billy Graham who stated,“I myself injected him personally.”
The third clip shows one of wrestler David Schultz’s older interviews where he stated that Hogan had taken steroids hundreds of times, many of which Schultz injected himself.
He took steroids like he drank water. I injected Hogan steroids many times. Many, many times. Hundreds of times.

In an interview withTheo Vanlast year, Hogan backtracked on his words stating that while he did use steroids, they were legal and prescribed by doctors.
So, for me, you know, up until the 90s, I was always street legal. I mean, if I had a bottle of deca or a bottle of test on me, it was a prescription from the doctor, and it was legal. I had my blood checked, my levels checked, and everything.
Quite the contrast from when he stated he never used steroids at all, right?
