The technological advancement, enjoyed in almost all spheres of human life, has some negative effects. The changes that the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought the society have created fear among many people due to the risk of taking away their jobs and professions.

Just as it is in the case of films, the visual effects sector, an integral part of contemporary cinema, is also at risk. It is in this light that the newest development, Stability AI and its Stable Diffusion text-to-image generator model has artists concerned. Surprisingly, a familiar name was linked with the ambitious company, as a popular director was welcomed on board. James Cameron’s decision to support the initiative has angered fans and artists online.
James Cameron’s risky bet: Can AI elevate filmmaking?
Stability AI’s technology is quite intriguing that even Hollywood is taking note which resulted in directorJames Cameronstepping in as one of the board of directors. While this may be exciting for some, particularly filmmakers fans and artists were not impressed.
The mutual consensus is that the use of Artificial Intelligence in visual effects will lower the value of human skills in filmmaking, thus making the industry boring and unapproachable. Fans are worried future movies may seem too unrealistic with vivid use of technology and less real locations.

Fans exclaim: A threat to human artists
Cameron has a history of incorporating new technical elements in films such asAvatar: The Way of Water, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and Aliens. His excitement though raised a lot of concerns on social media with people, especially artists, worried about the fate of artists in the years to come.
Some comments mentioned the downsides of excess AI in movies, while others predicted a future filled with mediocre films. A comment even claimed that most filmmakers have joined the bandwagon to skimp on money and avoid paying real artists.
I…. Oof. Forefront of CGI, sure, but he’s also supposed to be into the environment and such, and generative AI is such a massive resource hog…. Besides the artist issue. I feel like this is because of him using AI upscaling and cleanup on his old movies lately.
Dude turned into the fucking villain
The moment boomers realized they can save money they jumped on this shit so they feel head of the curve while conveniently ignoring that the models were trained off the work of the artists who made them rich.
this is so disappointing and irritating
James no. You know what AI will do 😭pic.twitter.com/A4i63rm5Pd
Fuck off James. Embracing AI at this scale puts actual artists in danger
You either die the hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
You’d expect someone who made one of the most beautiful cgi movies to understand the work that goes into it and why that needs to be maintained by real artists, but I guess not
It can’t be claimed for a fact that this decision may turn out to be severely disadvantageous for the future of Hollywood. However, it also can’t be denied that this move will dangerously impact the future of artists in the industry.
