Wild Arena Survivors, a new mobile Battle Royale game by Ubisoft, was reportedly created with the intention of being set inside the Far Cry universe. The report comes frommobilegamer.biz, which states that Ubisoft’s latest mobile release is “actually an abandoned Far Cry game”. According to their sources, Wild Arena Survivors was originally known as Far Cry: Wild Call.RELATED:Keanu Reeves Returns In Cyberpunk 2077’s New ExpansionDeveloped by Ubisoft Paris' mobile team, Wild Arena Survivors reportedly still includes elements within the game that references its original title. Players battle it out in what is known as the “Wild Call Festival”, which is, of course, remarkably similar to the name Far Cry: Wild Call.
According to mobilegamer’s source, Wild Arena Survivors received a soft launch without the Far Cry branding, but failed to build enough momentum to be rebranded and placed inside of the Far Cry universe. The game was then released fully in an attempt to recuperate some of the development costs.
The anonymous source states that Ubisoft likely “spent more money than they should have on development, and this is an attempt to recoup what they can and also learn from pushing a fully realtime multiplayer game out”.
A minimal amount of marketing has been done by Ubisoft for Wild Arena Survivors, and likely comes to down to the cost of development. In order to not spend any further resources on the project, there has been no word from Ubisoft on the game’s launch, aside from a launch trailer and the odd social media account.
Available on iOS and Android devices, Wild Arena Survivors pits 40 players against each other in fast-paced 10-minute matches. Like many other Battle Royale titles, players are able to loot gear, unlock special upgrades for their heroes, and play in multiple game modes, such as solo and duos modes.
