The online shooterThe Division 2from Ubisoft will be a part of Google Stadia’s launch line-up, Google confirmed during today. The game was featured in theStadia Connect stream, with developers speaking to Google’s infrastructure and server support on why the large, Washington D.C.-set online experience would work on the platform.Don’t expect anything new from that two-minute video from the Connect stream, however. The video consisted of developers reintroducing the game to prospective Stadia customers who might otherwise be unfamiliar with it. In short,The Division 2takes place seven months after the “Dollar Flu” from the firstDivisiongame, and the game’s world features landmarks such as the White House, the Capitol building, and the Washington Monument. It is only one of several Ubisoft games bound for release for Google Stadia, with the French company looking like it will be the most prominent third-party supporter for the platform. The game that started it all with Project Stream was Ubisoft’s ownAssassin’s Creed Odyssey, and today’s event also confirmed thatGhost Recon Breakpointwill also feature on the platform. There’s a bit more to it with the Stadia version ofBreakpoint, however, as this version will take advantage of Stream Connect, perthe Ubisoft official website. Because the game is running on Google’s many servers, games will be less reliant on peer-to-peer networking, and both online worlds and forms of split-screen play will be easier when every session and instance is running on their own server. As such,Breakpointgives players the ability to have live feeds from three co-operative teammates on screen.Whether or notThe Division 2will support that and the nifty Crowd Play feature, which lets streamers open up their game sessions to audience members and viewers, has yet to be seen or mentioned. We’ll likely have to find out inNovember when Google Stadia launchesalong witha number of other titles. Check out the two-minute video below.
