Well, it seems that the DCU is indeed playing some kind of game that the people do not like at all. With Superman and Lois being two integral characters of cinematic storytelling, it comes naturally that the two characters will indeed be seen in James Gunn’s upcoming filmSuperman: Legacy.

But to cancel a pre-existing CW series by the name ofSuperman and Loisso that there’s no confusion for the people… is quite a dumb move. Well, that’s exactly what Warner Bros. did before the release ofSuperman: Legacy!

Naturally, people were not okay with the alleged biases that the DCU and James Gunn were doing to Superman and took to Twitter to talk about… Batman and his iterations!
Meanwhile, Matt Reeves' Batman and Joker, Todd Phillips' Joker, and the DCU versions of Batman and Joker will all exist at the same time?

Come on, man, SUPERMAN & LOIS is one of the best Superman projects out there. This is dumb.https://t.co/XcV3KDo9LB

So you may’t have 2 competing Superman but yet you’re having 2 different theatrical Batman? How does that make sense?

On the other hand, James Gunn has been called a liar, and especially his decision to change the setting of his film from the Middle East to Eastern Europe has also angered fans. Bassem Youssef, who was recently removed fromSuperman: Legacy, talked about why he was fired.

Not only did Warner Bros. make CW cancelSuperman and Lois, but the studio also became the reason for the removal of Bassem Youssef from the film. BeforeJames Gunn fired Youssef, the actor was allegedly part ofSuperman: Legacy. In an interview withSalon, Youssef commented on his firing from the movie.
“I was kind of very sad, like why, in the United States of America, you can talk about Joe Biden, and you can talk about Donald Trump, but you cannot criticize a foreign government? Which is kind of very sad.”
He further continued,
“Because of that, I was cast in the movie, ‘Superman,’ and then they told me, ‘We changed the script,’ after this Piers Morgan interview.”
Well, it seems that James Gunn is trying his best to makeSuperman: Legacythe center of attention from everywhere possible. Starring David Corenswet in the lead role, the film is slated to release on 09 July 2025 in theaters across the U.S.
