Yesterday we saw that a prequel to the incredibly good Netflix TV showThe Witcherwill be coming our way.The Witcher: Blood Originwill be set 1200 years before Geralt of Rivia, and will feature a chaotic world filled with monsters, men, and elves that will explore how the firstWitcherdeveloped. The TV series was one ofNetflix’s biggest first seasonsever with over 76 million households tuning in to watch (even if it was solely to watch Henry Cavill in that bathtub scene. I mean, who would do that? Not me.). As much as I can’t wait to see the prequel and the second season toThe Witcher, these fanmade images have made me excited for more comic-book versions of the fantasy title.
In Poland from 1993-1995, 6 issues ofThe Witchercomic books, which are based on Andrzej Sapkowski’sWitchershort stories, were published and then in 2001, the graphic novels were collected in 2 hardcover volumes.Dark Horse Comics, an American comic book and manga publisher, picked the series up from 2015 to 2016 that consisted of four comics written by Paul Tobin and illustrated by Joe Querio. While the first storyline,House of Glass, is an original story, the second one,Fox Children, is an adaptation of one of the chapters of Andrzej Sapkowski’sSeason of Stormsnovel. However, going by these drawings byPatrick Brown, I think we could very well do with seeing even more comic book versions ofGeralt of Rivia.
