It’s Friday the 13th, so today is a fitting time to hear more about horror games. Even better forFNAFfans, a brand new title in that series was unveiled today. Developed by Illumix,Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery,a title that takes advantage of augmented reality technology to bring the series' characters into the real world, is coming to iOS and Android. Series creator Scott Cawthon actually teased this game in a postback in August,but today Illumix is actually detailing whatFive Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Deliveryentails. The augmented reality game does not rely on geolocation likePokemon GoorMinecraft Earth, a stance explained by Illumix CEO and Co-Founder Kirin Sinha. “Augmented Reality offers new ways for players to interact and engage with their favorite franchises by blending real-world environments, fictional characters, and innovative gameplay. WithFive Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery,we wanted to evolve beyond the traditional AR-optional geolocation gameplay and deliver a more meaningful AR experience by having AR as the core component of the game,” she explains.

2018 has been an experimental year for theFNAFfranchise asFive Nights at Freddy’s VR: Help Wantedreleased back in May and translated the series' formula into the fledgling VR gaming space.Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Deliveryseems to be doing the same with AR. When it comes to future titles, Scott Cawthon has confirmed that console and mobile ports of the original series, a AAA multiplayer game, and a mysterious game currently on hold calledFNAF: Into Madnessare in the works. Themovie adaptationis also still being made, and new novels continue to release to this day.
