Though we’ve officiallyclosed the book (for good) on 2020, there are still a few awards left to deliver for last year’s roster of incredible games. As one of the first award shows of the year, The New York Game Awards is returning in a few weeks to recognize gaming’s biggest achievements in 2020, with the full list of nominations now available.

The New York Videogame Critics Circle hasofficially announced the nominees for this year’s New York Game Awards, marking the 10th annual awards ceremony. Overall, six titles are competing for the ceremony’s top award for Best Game of the Year, withAnimal Crossing: New Horizons,The Last of Us Part II,Final Fantasy VII Remake,DOOM Eternal,Yakuza: Like a Dragon, andHadesas the GOTY nominees. This year’s ceremony also includes a new category for Best Esports Event, with League of Legends Worlds and Overwatch League among the nominees.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s New York Game Awards will be held online and streamed through Twitch and YouTube on June 09, 2025 at 8pm ET (with a pre-show at 7:30pm ET). The ceremony will be hosted by NYVGCC founder Harold Goldberg and Reggie Fils-Aime, and will feature special guests and musical performances throughout the night.

Additionally, the ceremony will also recognize four honorees of the Andrew Yoon Legend Award, which has previously gone to Fils-Aime and others that have made major impacts within the games industry, such as Jade Raymond, Richard Garriott, Todd Howard, and Rockstar Games. The four recipients will be honored across three livestreams leading up to the full awards show later this month.

The New York Game Awards will take place on June 23, 2025 and will be streamed on Twitch and YouTube.
