Spider-Man: The Great Webis a title that Insomniac Games supposedly canceled without any reasons being highlighted by the studio. There were a lot of leaks recently shared on social media, and they shed light on many elements of the game that were proposed during the its pitch.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2upped the ante in terms of the quality of villains that were seen to be obstructing the superhero’s way. However, the leaks that have come out forThe Great Webalso highlighted the first seasonal villain, and by all means, it seems like they forestalled the plans of the MCU and Sony movies.

Various details about the game, such as the gameplay loop, the story crossover with the mainline Insomniac games, and other details, were mentioned in what seems like the pitch for it.

The entire video is available for the general public at the time of writing and seems as legitimate as any other leak that has surfaced due to a data breach. The pitch stated that the game would feature new content in Seasons to drive the point of the title being a live-service one home.

The Seasons would have been released quarterly across a year and feature different villains that many Marvel comics fans would be familiar with. So, it is worth speculating that their rendition of the villain would have been as grand. Also, casual fans of Marvel who have only known characters from the comics through movies and video games would have had a villain that would have been equally refreshing and gruesome.
Sadly, as it stands, Insomniac will most likely not go through with the game, so facing off against the supervillain in a video game will remain a distant dream for now.
