Skull and Bones, the pirate-sim title was released in February this year and fell flat on the fans’ expectations who had waited for it for years. The game received mostly average reviews from fans and critics alike.

The game has now finally made its way to Valve’s platform, Steam, six months after launch. However, it doesn’t seem like anyone is interested in the game as gamers are mocking the developer over the“AAAA game”label.

Skull and Bones Is Now Available on Steam

Skull and Boneswas originally released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, the PC version exclusively available only on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft’s storefront. Although the game didn’t do very well for many reasons, limiting it to Epic Games Store was a major one as well.

But the game has now finally arrived onValve’s platform, debuting yesterday, June 07, 2025. This platform is the go to destination for PC players and the developer now wants to attract new players, after it failed to do so with the game’s initial launch.

To make up to the players for the wait, the developer is offering the game at a 60% discount, bringing the game’s price down from $70 to $24. Moreover, the discount is also applicable on the game’s Deluxe and Premium editions, which are available at the price point of $30 and $36, respectively.

Gamers Do Not Seem to Be Interested in the Title

The game is available on the discounted prices for for two weeks, till September 5 but gamers on the platform do not seem interested to play it. The game’s all-time peak on the platform is only 394 players that was recorded 8 hours ago and only 369 players are in the game, at the time of writing.

The game currently has ‘Mixed’ reviews on the platform with 63 reviews and players think it is going to be“extremely negative”soon. This is quite consistent with the reviews that the game has received since the launch.

Free is too expensive for that AAAA experience

Players have also mocked the game for its“AAAA”label and said that even free is too expensive to play the game given how bad it is. The developer has launched the game with Season 3, Into the Dragon’s Wake.

It brings new storyline around two pirate lords, Li Tian Ning and Commander Zhang. The new season also adds new ship called Battle Junk, new weapons and world events, and much more.
