Ever wish you could just have more of something? Oh, what am I saying, of course you have. Item duplication glitches aren’t available in every game, and when they are, they’re often patched out - but every so often, you get the chance to exploit one. And this one may last awhile.
The originalOblivionrelease had one such glitch. And that game is one that the dev team at Virtuous tried to recreate as faithfully as possible in this remaster - what with its unusual dialogue andinfamous horse armor DLC. Apparently, that faith also brought back an item duplication glitch, one that players are happy to see return.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered isn’t truly one-to-one with the original, it just aims to feel as faithful as possible, without incurring some of the downsides inherent to the process. Modern design sensibilities and all that.
But in terms of just feeling like the old days of gaming, they seemed to have nailed it - right down to the game’s bugs. A shadow-drop to evoke feelings of “man, remember when games just released, and they were good?”, plus all the other ways Oblivion stayed true to itself, makes this remaster one for the ages.

The Oblivion Remastered Item Dupe Glitch Is An Interesting Process
While not a super difficult glitch to perform, the Oblivion Remastered item dupe glitch can take some practice to get right. The process is easier to perform on PC, though console players have not been entirely left out in the cold.
First things first: this dupe does not work on unique items, quest items, or anything you’ve stolen. So pick an item to dupe that isn’t one of those. Other than that, you’ll also want another item in a large stack. Something like arrows.

Bethesda Gave Free Copies Of Oblivion Remastered To These Modders Recreating Oblivion in Skyrim
Even after the release of the official remaster, Bethesda does not intend to shut down the fan project.
Second things second, you’ll need a storage container. Ideally, one near a merchant - if you get overencumbered, you don’t want to spend a long time walking to someplace to offload your goods.

Several guides exist that can instruct you on how to perform the glitch, and we recommendthis one from our friends over at TheGamer. It breaks down each step, with sections divided between PC and console players.
While duplication glitches are normally viewed as exploits, using it here doesn’t seem like a bad idea. They’re only at their worst in multiplayer games, especially one with a large player economy. Oblivion is no such game.

That, and the fact that the glitch has survived between games, between engines, between dev teams… yeah, it’s entirely possible that its inclusion is intentional.
Obviously, the team at Virtuous hasn’t yet commented on a massive bug in their game (why would they?), but if the dupe can stand the test of time like this… well, that’s as close to a developer blessing as we’re going to get.
