It’s always a good time to be a horror fan, especially with the likes ofSilent Hill 2Remake somewhere over the hill that’s making theBloober Team all “excited"about its upcoming project and also the rumored open-worldResident Evil9 on the horizon. Even though we’ve entered the sunnier and lighter months of the year, there’s no wrong time to jump into something dark and scary.
Enter The Bounds VR. An indie horror title by Build the Light Studio inspired by the classic creepy genre of Silent Hill and Resident Evil and to really play into the spooky environments, players will get to experience the tense atmosphere through the beauty of virtual reality - that’s if they can handle it.

Resident Evil 9 Leaker Reveals Potential Release Date With Reveal Coming “Pretty Soon”
A reliable Resident Evil claims that a reveal for the series' ninth instalment is coming soon and has had seven years in development.
In an interview withGame Rant, Build the Light Studio’s Lead 3D Artist/Lead Level Designer Pierre Mauger and Lead Developer/Lead Designer Géraud Toussaint talked about how they drew inspiration from horror titles Silent Hill and Resident Evil for The Bounds VR by implementing the classic mechanics and eerie atmosphere players love so much. “There are not many jump scares, not those kinds of things. You can shoot, you can aim, you can combat with an axe.” Mauger explained, “But it’s not the main part of the game. The game is atmospheric. There is a kind of sadness, a moody atmosphere, something like that.”

Sometimes, just being scared in a horror game is not quite enough, and it’s the story that can really cradle the game to new heights, setting it apart from others that came before it. With The Bounds VR’s long dark yet familiar hallways and fog-filled mansion, Mauger wants players to have an experience to remember more than anything else. “But I really want the player to remember the lore, remember the story, remember what they felt when they discovered the whole case, what really happened in the mansion. That’s what we want to achieve with The Bounds VR.”
For players who aren’t too keen on being scared out of their wits, they won’t have to worry too much about The Bounds VR. Although there are some jump scares, it isn’t the game’s overall goal. Urgency and discomfort seem to be at the helm of it instead, as players make their way around the mansion in the hopes of finding the protagonist’s daughter. “And the idea is that the players will feel kind of the same way as Booker is, which is, that he doesn’t want to be there. He wants to run, but he has to find his daughter.”
Coupled with multiple endings, horror fans will be able to replay The Bounds VR as many times as they please - or as much as they can handle. Currently in the development process, Build the Light Studio’s first game in their Project Louisiana title doesn’t have a release date as yet, but fans of the classic horror genre will want to keep their eyes open for this one.
