Zack Snyder Opens Up AboutSucker Punch

Zack Snyderis currently gearing up for the release of his latest flick,Rebel Moon.Ahead of the limited theatrical run of the movie,300director took some time out of his schedule to talk aboutSucker Punchin an interview withMetro.co.uk.

The original version would have been super controversial, it was super dark. It was the darkest thing ever but we didn’t care about that. We just cared about the fact that we couldn’t get close to it with the money that they would have given us for the R-rated version of it. That was the problem.

As Synder mentioned, the issue was not with respect to the plot. Instead, the veteran director believed the problem was that it did not have an R-rating.

The movie made its way to the theaters in 2011 with a PG-13 rating. Evidently, it meant a lot of dark scenes in the original version of the film were trimmed to fit the rating.

Fans have been waiting for a Snyder cut for the film, similar to howJustice Leaguewas re-released on Max in 2021. It allowed Snyder to narrate the story in a much better way and received tremendous love from fans.

Zack Snyder’s Wife Explains the Only Regret AboutSucker Punch

On top of having Zack Snyder as the director,Sucker Punchalso featured Deborah Snyder as the producer for the movie. The better half of the reputed director shared similar thoughts on the movie and revealed them in the same interview with Metro.co.uk.

I regret that we did it PG-13 because it was originally R, we didn’t know how to pull it off from the budget and they were gonna give us more money if it was PG 13. I wish we would have figured that out because that’s my only regret.

Despite the movie being released with a PG-13 rating, it had an adult tone throughout the plot. After all, the movie follows Babydoll, who makes her way to a brothel in an alternate reality, which is for the mentally insane.

Upon reaching the unique place, Babydoll befriends Rocket, Sweet Pea, Amber, and Blondie. As many would have guessed, the group will try to escape from the brothel.
