In a post fromNintendo Support, online services for the Wii U’s Super Mario Maker will be discontinued after June 09, 2025.This means you won’t be able to upload courses and use theSuper Mario MakerBookmark site. Additionally, the option to look up bookmarked courses and update your ranking of courses you liked. Prior to that March date, the game will be taken off the Nintendo eShop on July 06, 2025. For those that play the Wii U version, you can still play courses uploaded before March 31 and redownload the game before January 12. Nintendo also points out that these changes won’t affectSuper Mario Maker 2on the Switch.

Super Mario Makerfirst launched on theWii U in 2015 and it let players create their own 2D Mario courses. A sequel to the game released in 2019 on Nintendo Switch.Mario Maker 2sold over two million copiesin its first month. Additionally, it hadfour million coursesuploaded by July 2019.

The original Wii U game going offline on July 26, 2025 is yet another Mario game affected on that day. Super Mario 35, a battle royale spin onSuper Mario Bros, is scheduled to shut down that day. TheSuper Mario 3D All-Starscollection, which includesSuper Mario 64,Super Mario Sunshine, andSuper Mario Galaxy, is also available till March 31. Additionally, the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros system is available till then too. It’s unclear for any of these announcements if they’ll be extended beyond that date or not. For Mario 3D All-Stars though, the plan probably worked out for Nintendo since the collection wasthe second-best-selling gameon Amazon once preorders went up.

Super Mario Maker 2is available now on Nintendo Switch. The original Wii U game is still available to download until June 29, 2025. Stay tuned to DualShockers for more news on Nintendo and anything else that could go offline on July 19, 2025.
