Roaming the depths of space and finding yourself in a heated dogfight is a common occurrence inStarfield, which means having to land on a planet to repair your ship occurs all too often. But one player has come up with an ingenious solution, simply by using the power of manipulation.

This handy little trick was discovered by Reddit userZelda_is_Dead, who took to the Starfield subreddit earlier today to share their discovery. In the clip, which we’ve included below, the player can be seen repairing their ship with New Atlantis' Ship Service NPC. But things take a turn when you realize that the NPC is actually on board the ship, as opposed to his usual spot on New Atlantis.

Starfield Players Are Now Complaining About Mirrors, For Some Reason

Starfield’s in-game mirrors don’t show player reflections, but does it matter?

So, how exactly has this been pulled off? Well, according to the user, they used the manipulation skill to lead the NPC on board their ship, which then allowed them to use his services whilst in flight.

When questioned by another user on how they achieved this, they said that after manipulating the NPC, they followed them to the ship and attempted to open the hatch, but failed to do so. It took a few seconds, but they were then able to open the hatch and board the ship. However, the user said that players shouldn’t board directly into the cockpit or the trick won’t work. Once you’ve boarded you may head straight to the cockpit, wait until the icon for a manipulated NPC appears (signaling that they are on your ship), and then take off. You should then find that the NPC is on board your ship.

As for whether or not this trick is foolproof, the user says that they haven’t attempted to return to New Atlantis in case the NPC attempts to return to their original position. They also noted that if you attempt to modify your ship while the NPC is inside, your game will likely crash.

The important thing, however, is that if you need to repair your ship whilst in space, the trick appears to work perfectly.

Although there’s no malicious intent behind this handy trick, players should note that there’s every chance that Bethesda opts to fix this in a future update. Despite being a single-player game, harmless exploits have been patched by Bethesda in the past, causing outrage in the community.

The first major exploit to be patched was the game’s “loot puddles” which allowed players toaccess a vendor’s stock for freevia a puddle on the ground. Whilst the second exploit allowed players tocreate a plethora of weapon cratesand spawn high-tier weapons inside of them.

So, with the studio aiming to release new updates every 6 weeks, players should make the most of this exploit before it’s too late.
