Starfield: How To Assign Crew To An Outpost

Having trouble figuring out how to assign crew members to outposts? Here is a guide to help!

How To Get Helium-3

You will findHelium-3on many planets and moons in Starfield. To find out whether a planet has a resource, you’ll need toscan it from orbit. If a planet has Helium-3, you can extract it manually or with an Outpost.

Extracting a resource manually requires you to physically land on the planet and travel to a gas vent. A prompt will appear for you to press. If you’d like to automate the process instead, a Helium-3 extractor can be built using an Outpost.

How To Power & Start A Fueled Generator

Once the generator is built, and you’ve located a source of Helium-3, this is where many players become stuck. There is no easily discernable way to feed the generator and power it on. To do so, you’ll need to build what is called an Output connection. This connection must go from a powered Helium-3 extractor or a gas storage filled with Helium-3.

How To Create A Connection To Your Generator

Connections in Starfield allow you to tell resources to travel from one place to another without having to be moved manually. It is part of Starfield’s automation system for Outposts. To build a connection:

Then, once the generator is supplied with Helium, it can be activated using E on a PC or A on a controller.
