ConcernedApe, the developer behindStardew ValleyandHaunted Chocolatier, is putting the upcoming confectionery store simulation gameon the back burnerwhile he focuses on releasing the highly anticipated Stardew 1.6 update. Once the update wraps up, the developer will return to the haunted world of Chocolatier and work to make it a reality. The tweet from the developer reads: “There is going to be a Stardew 1.6 update. It’s mostly changes for modders (which will make it easier & more powerful to mod). But there is also new game content, albeit much less than 1.5. I’m taking a break from Haunted Chocolatier to work on this at the moment. Then back to HC”.RELATED:Best Stardew Valley ModsWe already have a rough idea of what casual players can expect from Stardew 1.6, as Concerned Apehinted last yearthat the update would be modder-oriented, while adding that it’s unclear if a follow-up 1.7 update will be released. There have also been hints that Stardew Valley and Haunted Chocolatier will get some fanservice cross-references in the latter, but the developer wants Haunted Chocolatier to stand alone, so the connection may not be as strong as fans would dream.Stardew 1.6 is set to completely overhaul all of its game code to give modders more flexibility in their work (according tothe official wiki). Everything from custom items to crops, fences, and trees will get a facelift, though it may come at a small price. Since the game is trading in its old .Net 5 development toolbox for a newer, flashier version: .NET 6, most of the old mods will not be compatible with the programming framework transition.
That said, the update is anything but a mere spruce-up, as it’s loaded with a wagonload of new features that any developer with a puff of imagination will want to take a bite out of — a 40% increase in performance (viaashutec), rock-solid long-term support, and compatibility with all kinds of platforms. It’s the top dog for any programmer or modder worth their weight in turnips.
What’s more, NET 6 packs a newfangled punch with better support for machine learning and artificial intelligence, ensuring that Stardew Valley stays ahead of the game in this new ever-evolving AI landscape.
While it’s sad that we won’t be hearing from Haunted Chocolatier for quite some time, the prospect of having our own improved Stardew Valley playbox is wonderful in itself. And knowingthe enthusiasm of this fanbase, you may find some of them making their own HC while waiting for the real one to finish cooking.
