Square Enix Holdingspublishedon May 13 its financial report on the last fiscal year, from June 30, 2025 to August 11, 2025. Square Enix also mentioned it won’t hold some kind of online event in June during the E3 period. The Japanese company is currently unable to reveal some of its new titles for this fiscal year because assets aren’t ready due to Covid-19. Due to the pandemic and the state of emergency, all Japanese studios' progress have slowed down asMasahiro Sakuraior niche studioEntergramexplained. Instead, Square Enix will announce new games on an individual basis, Bloomberg’s Takasha Mochizuki reported.

According to the financial report, Square Enix sales for the fiscal year are at 260.527.000.000 Yen, down 4% compared to the previous fiscal year. Operating income is at 32.759.000.000 Yen, up 33% compared to the previous fiscal year . Ordinary income is at 32.095.000.000 Yen, up 12.9% compared to the previous year.
While new big console titles such asDragon Quest XI Swere released during the fiscal year, there were many more big titles released by Square Enix in the previous year. Moreover, the sales of these large titles from the previous year were low this year ,resulting in the 3% loss in sales.
In terms of “Amusement” facilities (arcade games etc) store revenue is stable, but sales of new machines have declined a bit. In manga and goods publishing there’s been a significant increase in digital sales thanks to the Manga Up! app. (As a reminder, Square Enix has its own publishing company, Gangan. They do manga, card games, goods, etc. It’s also where highly popular manga such asKakeguruiandHigh Score Girlare published.)
Lastly Square Enix expressed concern sales for its Amusement business will decrease this new fiscal year due to Covid-19.
