Hugh Hefner Was Buried Next To Marilyn Monroe
In 2009,Hugh Hefnerpurchased a crypt in Westwood Village Memorial Park in Los Angeles right next to Hollywood icon,Marilyn Monroe. He paid $75,000 for it and had full intentions to get buried next to her after his passing. Speaking to theLos Angeles Timesabout this, he mentioned that he liked the idea of spending the rest of eternity with the actress.
“I’m a believer in things symbolic,”he said. “Spending eternity next to Marilyn is too sweet to pass up.”

While the sentiment on its own is quite odd, many found thePlayboycreator’s intentions to be off-putting. Some did not like the idea of the entire situation considering Monroe had not consented to anything of the sort. After being let down by the world time and time again in her life, they did not want to fail her in death as well.
Others have objections about how odd it would be considering the history the two had with each other.

Marilyn Monroe and Hugh Hefner Knew Of Each Other
Hugh Hefner’s first issue ofPlayboymagazine went extremely viral after it posed Marilyn Monroe on both the cover and centerfold. Despite having never met the man, she was the reason why his career shot to the sky, all because of nude pictures of her being put out for the world to see, without her consent.
According to an account written inMarilyn: Her Life In Her Own Words,in 1948, when Monroe was a struggling actress, she took some nude photographs for her friend Tom Kelley. They were taken under the pretense that she would not be recognized by these shots.

Unfortunately, in 1953, the pictures came into the hands of Hefner, who thought the best course of action to be publishing them for the world to see. He even spoke toE!Newsabout why he did this. The entire situation got so out of hand that Monroe apologized to the public and feared it to be the end of her career in Hollywood.
“The picture was something that had been shot before,”he said.“It was a calendar photo shot by Tom Kelley. Most people had heard about it but almost nobody had seen it and nobody had seen it because the post office had taken the position that you couldn’t send nudity through the mail. And I’m the kid that didn’t think the post office had that right.”

He continued,“So we published that picture and it caused a sensation.”
