Sony’s PlayStation 5 console has officially sold more than 30 million units worldwide, the company has confirmed via a newpost on Twitter. PlayStation also announced that December was “the biggest month ever for PS5 console sales,” but did not specify figures on how the console performed during the month.Following a supposed hugely successful month for the PlayStation 5, Sony then confirmed that the console had hit a new milestone. “December was the biggest month ever for PS5 console sales, bringing the total to more than 30 million units sold worldwide,” PlayStation stated. Unfortunately, this figure falls incredibly short of Sony’s target, which the company states is 18 million units sold by the end of the current fiscal year - March 2023.With a total of 10.7 million units being sold in the current fiscal year for Sony, the company now only has 3 months to sell a further 7.3 million units, should the set target of 18 million units by the end of the current fiscal year be reached.

Sales figures weren’t the only thing on Sony’s agenda for CES 2023 though, as the company also announced a new accessibility controller currently codenamed Project Leonardo. The controller will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 and is highly customizable. Sony says the controller is “designed to remove barriers to gaming and help players with disabilities play more easily, more comfortably, and for longer periods on PS5.”
