Though the actors performing the roles aren’t particularly eye-catching, they all manage to come together and deliver incredible performances that do justice to the source material.
This article contains major spoilers for the show, Silo.
10George Wilkins
The entire crux of the show’s mystery lies in the alleged murder of George Wilkins, an engineer from the lower levels who fell to his death. His presence is felt throughout the show, from start to finish, and even though George is a dead man, he affects the plot in very real ways.
Investigating the circumstances behind his death is what motivates Nichols to become Sheriff, and the previous Sheriff, Holston Becker, goes down a rabbit hole when investigating George’s case, ending in a cleaning.

9Deputy Marnes
Deputy Marnes is like your old charismatic grandfather who isn’t problematically racist and is surprisingly fun to hang out with. He serves under Sheriff Holston at first, then under Sheriff Nichols for a brief time before he gets murdered.

The deputy’s character had a few changes in the show compared to the books, but the core character traits were still there.
8Deputy Hank
A police officer on the lower levels., Deputy Hank is a very soft-spoken and nice character. He’s the one who brings the case of George Wilkins to Sheriff Holston’s desk as a favor to Juliette Nichols.
As far as police officers go, Hank is a pretty well-liked one. He meshes well with the rest of the gruff crowd down at the lower levels and maintains a good relationship with most of the engineers. His easygoing demeanor and homely vibes make him a fan favorite.

7Martha Walker
Martha Walker is thementor character for Juliette Nichols. She’s the one who first took the rebellious teen in when she ran away from home, and she continued to mentor the child well after she had joined Mechanical as an engineer.
Martha is a complex character with a lot of underdeveloped backstory. She has a debilitating fear of the outside, being unable to step out her front door, and spending all her time inside her workshop full of odds and ends.

6Paul Billings
Paul Billings is the Judicial’s pick for the role of Sheriff, making him a public enemy initially. However, he managed to win over Juliette and the audience with his sincere attitude and simple ambitions. He is a by-the-books cop that swears by the Pact, Silo’s bible, and does his best to fit into the role of a Deputy after Marnes gets murdered.
He has the Syndrome, a seemingly nervous disorder that makes him lose control over his fine motor functions, making him unfit for duty, according to his beloved Pact. However, he refuses to relieve himself of duty and is determined to overcome his disability.

5Ruth Jahns
The old mayor of the Silo, who’s been mayor for a while due to popular demand, is one of the pivotal characters in the series. She assigns Juliette as Sheriff after the death of Holston, to the outrage of the rest of her staff and confidants. As a result of not following the whims of would-be greater powers, she is assassinated soon after, leading to great unrest in the Silo.
Ruth is a charismatic leader who has feelings for Deputy Marnes despite her old age. She doesn’t act on these feelings because of her position as Mayor and her previous marriage but comes around to it. However, right after we get some development in this relationship, she gets poisoned to death.

4Holston Becker
He is a very beloved person in the Silo, known by many as a fair and just Sheriff. He loses his wife after they’re unable to conceive and goes into a funk.

3Juliette Nichols
The main character of the show is a compelling and capable engineer by the name of Juliette Nichols, who takes on the post of Sheriff in order to find out the identity of the killer of her boyfriend, George Wilkins.
Juliette is a headstrong character who does what she wants when she wants to do it. She doesn’t have a lot of respect for authority and considers her role in the Silo to be the most important.
2Robert Sims
Seemingly the main antagonist for the majority of the series, Robert Si is one of the mysterious Listeners of the Silo, a secret organization that aims to keep the peace, no matter what the cost.
He’s personally responsible for multiple deaths in the Silo and keeps surveillance over a good chunk of the population, enforcing arbitrary rules of the Pact as he sees fit. He has a compelling personality and manages to make the audience hate him in the first scene he appears.
1Bernard Holland
The secret mastermind behind it all, Bernard Holland, is the head of IT. He is a hard-ass stickler for rules who don’t tolerate any misconduct from his employees. He becomes the mortal enemy of Juliette when she steals electrical tape from his department.
Near the end of the series, it’s revealed that Bernard is actually the one who has a hold over Judicial, and he’s the one who actually holds the keys to the Silo. This incredible plot twist puts everything that happened in the show into an entirely different perspective.
