This discovery wasbrought to light by dataminers, as reported byGame Rant. As theSilent Hillseries is seeingrenewed interest with upcoming titles, many fans are revisiting older games in the franchise.

The breakthrough came afterSilent Hill: Downpour’ssource code was leaked, allowing dataminers to comb through the game’s files.AestheticGamer1on X/Twitter shared that several features, includingmultiplayer, were removed during development.

There is speculation thatsome of these multiplayer elementsmay have been shifted toSilent Hill: Book of Memories, which was also released in 2012.

The data mine also uncovered plans for awristwatch enemy detectorandnew enemy designs, which never saw the light of day. Ahiding mechanicand afear meter, the latter tied to the psychological profile, were also part of the early development but were ultimately cut from the final version of the game.
