Longlegswas released earlier this year and since then, it has slowly climbed its way up the box office ladder. It turns out that the indie horror/thriller film has surpassed Neon’s highest-grossing and multi-Oscar award-winning project, Bong Joon-Ho’sParasite(domestically).
Parasite grossed$53.3 millionwhileLonglegshas managed to pool in$74.2 milliondomestically (via Box Office Mojo). Considering thatLonglegshas done far better than Neon’s 2019 box office hit, it certainly deserves to be considered for an Oscar next year.

According to a Hollywood source named Will Mavity (@mavericksmovieson X), Neon has started an FYC (For Your Consideration) Campaign to help Nicolas Cage get an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

According toCollider, director Osgood “Oz” Perkins took inspiration from the infamous murder of JonBenét Ramsey, a six-year-old girl who was found dead at the time the movie was being written. TheLonglegsactor, Nicolas Cage has gotten a couple of great reviews from movie critics as well (viaGold Derby). Katie Rife of IGN said,
Cage does his version of warbly-voiced weirdo crooner Tiny Tim, an affectation that would be bonkers coming from anyone else, but is just another day at work for Cage.
Other critics singled out Cage’s performance calling it“unforgettable”and another deeming the legend as the“planet’s most unmistakable screen actor.”If Cage earns an Oscar nomination, it wouldn’t be his first. He has already been nominated for an Oscar twice, winning the award once for his movieLeaving Las Vegas.
