WhenGhost of Tsushimawas first released for PlayStation back in 2020, the landscape for open-world samurai games changed, and the title saw critical acclaim with numerous award nominations. Specific praise was heaped on the art direction, narrative, audio, and visual effects, and this saw the game take home the wins in these categories.

With overwhelming praise for the game from players, many have been patiently waiting for a snippet of news in regards to a follow-up. What direction would the sequel take, and would it be linked to historic events like the first game? The story of Jin Sakai is one that fans are desperate to experience afresh, and, understandably, they are eager to hear of developments.
What Do We Know About Ghost of Tsushima 2?
Many fans expected that they would learn of Tsushima 2at therecentState of Play and were unfortunately left disappointed. They were treated to theRise of the Ronin, which does look like it could steal the crown; however, it was the lack of details about the Sucker Punch sequel that left many questioning why, after 4 years, there are none.
There have been various patches and updates for the first title, but since 2022, Sucker Punch has announced that it will be directing efforts to other projects. This would lead many to think that work was indeed being done on the much-awaited sequel. Despite this, nearly 2 years on, there has been nothing confirmed and no insider leaks, which in this day and age is almost unheard of.

However, could it be that the company is just keeping its cards close to its chest? With the number of leaks and hacking incidents of late, it could be that the developers want to make sure that details are kept under lock and key with limited access. This, in turn, would only serve to heighten the excitement amongst fans when the sequel is indeed announced.
A Ghost of Tsushima Movie Is in the Works
While many fans of the samurai title may be impatient and frustrated by the lack of news regarding a second entry, there is information about the film adaptation of the first game to look forward to. As announced back in March 2021, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions confirmed that work was underway to bring the game to the big screen.
It should be noted that four years between titles is not uncommon, and some sequels can take even longer before being released. We only have to look at the latestGrand Theft Autogame, which has taken over 10 years to be announced. So it could be that, with the film adaptation in the works, the development of the sequel could take a little bit longer.

Ghost of Tsushimais a game that deserves all the plaudits it received and is still held in high regard four years later. Described as one of the best, if not the best, samurai games, it is understandable that fans would be looking forward to a follow-up. However, with no updates or leaks, fans are rightly worried as to why there has been no mention of the sequel.
