Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s relationship has been full of ups and downs. Though they have fallen apart and come back together more than once in their lives, they have now been married since 2022. They have both been very vocal about their support for the other’s career and professional achievements, even when they were not together. The perfect example of this would be the Batman actor’s interview in 2020.

Ben Affleck Praised Jennifer Lopez Even When They Were Not Together
In February 2020, Ben Affleck was promoting his film,The Way Back, and gave an interview with theNew York Times. Here, he went into great detail about many aspects of his life, including his split with Jennifer Garner, and talked about his then-ex-girlfriend,Jennifer Lopez. More specifically, her film,Hustlesin which she played the role of a stripper named Ramona.
“How awesome is it that she had her biggest hit movie at 50? That’s f*cking baller.”Said Affleck.

The film gained quite a lot of recognition, not only because of its cast, which was full of actors and singers alike but also because of the story that it was trying to successfully tell. With it holding an 87% rating onRotten Tomatoes, the film gained a lot of critical acclaim, including from Affleck himself. During this interview, some parts were cut out and left to be posted onXby writer Brooks Barnes. Here, Affleck stated that he found it extremely interesting that the actress was able to get her biggest film to this date when she was 50 years old.

Ben Affleck Believed That Jennifer Lopez Should Have Been Nominated For An Oscar
Ben Affleck then went on to talk about the Oscar nominations which had been recently released at the time. He thought that Jennifer Lopez’s performance was so good in this movie that she deserved an Oscar nomination for it, referring to her as the ‘real thing’. He stated that they had talked about this, as they kept in touch now and then.
“She should have been nominated. She’s the real thing. I keep in touch periodically with her and have a lot of respect for her.”Affleck stated.

He added that he was extremely proud of all that she was accomplishing and had immense respect for Lopez and her work. This is extremely beautiful because the two ended up getting married only two years after this interview and have been going strong ever since.
