2023 is past us, and with it, DC Studios’ underwhelming superhero franchise, DC Extended Universe, is also in the rearview mirror for good. Fans of DC Comics have now set their sights on the James Gunn-orchestrated universe.

Superman: Legacywill be the first movie to debut in the revamped DC Universe. As such, the movie is attracting more limelight than any other project announced for the first chapter,Gods and Monsters.In that regard, Phoebe Dynevor has given fans something to mull over by talking about Lois Lane.

Phoebe Dynevor Sheds Light on James Gunn’s Vision for Lois Lane
James Gunn, who’s spearheading DC Studios’ new franchise alongside Peter Safran, has already given plenty of information regarding how he plans to shape the first big-screen feature of the DCU.
Speaking toreportersin January of 2023, the writer-director ofSuperman: Legacyrevealed:
“It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks that kindness is old-fashioned.”
It has also been confirmed that Superman’s story will start by focusing on an earlier part of the iconic character’s life. The same reason has been seemingly used to explain the departure of Henry Cavill, 40. He’s being replaced by the 30-year-old David Corenswet.

Now,Phoebe Dynevor, who auditioned for the role of Lois Lane, has given an insight into how Gunn plans to approach the character. While describing her experience of the audition toVariety, Dynevor said:
“It was a whirlwind and then I realized that it was over, but it was great. She saves Superman. She’s the brains; she’s actually the fearless one.”

Despite missing out on the role, Dynevor expressed her desire to play “fearless” characters like Lois, the award-winning investigative journalist.

What James Gunn Did Before Casting Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane
Gunn held a very imaginative audition before finalizing Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as his main leads.
According toThe Hollywood Reporter,The Suicide Squaddirector assembled three actors and three actresses for Clark and Lois. On the first day of the testing, the actors were seen in predetermined pairs: Nicholas Hoult and Rachel Brosnahan; Tom Brittney and Phoebe Dynevor; and David Corenswet and Emma Mackey.
The report further read:“They were given several scenes to film, in which the males were in makeup and wardrobe as Daily Planet reporter Kent, while the females were plucky journalist Lane.”
Clearly, Corenswet and Brosnahan managed to impress Gunn the most. Meanwhile, Hoult got the part of supervillain Lex Luthor.
