Most Archetypes inRemnant 2start off with decent weapons, but you probably won’t want to hang onto those for very long. That’s because the game features a wide variety of epic boss weapons that far exceed most of the guns and swords you get at the start, not just in terms of damage output but also in terms of versatility. Naturally, you’ll have to defeat somevery challenging bossesif you want to get your hands on them.

Boss weapons come equipped withunique modsthat give them a massive edge over most regular weapons. As you might expect, though, these weapons were not all created equally. In fact, some of them are so good that we wanted to take the time to talk about each of them individually, hence why we put together the list below.

Spectral Blade Remnant 2

10Spectral Blade

Base Damage

Max Level Damage

The Spectral Blade is a melee weapon that can be crafted using the Eidolon Shard, a special material that drops upon defeatingSha’Hala, Spectral Guardian of N’Erud. This is a pretty fast katana with good combo potential, but it does fall a bit short in the damage department even when fully upgraded. The Spectral Blade can be difficult to recommend over the regular Steel Katana, however, it does come with an interesting mod that gives it an edge over its counterpart when fighting swarms of enemies.

Whirlwind, the Spectral Blade’s unique weapon mod, is pretty self-explanatory. Once activated, the mod creates a whirlwind of slashes that hits all enemies in front of the player for 75 damage. Using the mod requires you to first perform a neutral backdash, an evasive maneuver with no directional input that the game doesn’t really explain. Once you figure out how to do it, you’ll find plenty of uses for the mod. It doesn’t do a ton of damage, but it doesn’t have a cooldown either, meaning you can spam it to your heart’s content.

Nebula Remnant 2

Nebula is a Hand Gun that can be crafted using the Spiced Bile, a special material that drops upon defeating Tal Ratha in the Forgotten Prison. This is a short-range weapon that essentially works like a flamethrower; only instead of fire, it spews a stream of acid gas. Enemies hit by the acid will be inflicted with the Corroded debuff, which causes them to take 300 damage over 15 seconds. Enemies affected by Corrosion also take 10% increased damage from all sources for the duration of the debuff. As an added bonus, enemies killed by the debuff spawn a gas cloud that can then afflict other targets.

While Nebula’s primary attack is only useful at close range, you’re able to also hit enemies that are a bit farther away thanks to its mod, Nano Swarm. The mod spawns a swarm of nanorobots that act independently and seek targets to attack for up to 15 seconds. Enemies targeted by Nano Swarm only take a small amount of Acid damage, but they can be hit multiple times, allowing the damage to build up. The mod isn’t particularly useful against regular mobs, but can come in handy during certain boss encounters.

8Feral Judgment

Feral Judgment is a melee weapon that can be crafted using the Ravager’s Maw, a special material that drops upon attacking the Corrupted Ravager and killing the doe before the monster can eat it. Claw weapons like Feral Judgment have very short range and are difficult to use effectively unless you’re able to take full advantage of their speed. The secret here is to land enough hits to activate the mod. Do that, and the weapon will become much more devastating.

Death Sentence, Feral Judgment’s unique mod, becomes active once you hit enemies at least six times over a period of 10 seconds. Performing a neutral backdash charge attack afterward will cause the weapon to inflict Death Sentence, a debuff that triggers 15 seconds later and causes a huge amount of damage. While empowered, Feral Judgment also deals 25% bonus damage to Bleeding enemies.

7Twisted Arbalest

The Twisted Arbalest is a Long Gun that can be crafted using the Twisted Lazurite, a special material that drops upon defeatingthe Corruptoron Yaesha after first disabling the Guardian. This is a very situational weapon that can only be shot once before requiring a reload. However, that one projectile bounces off the initial target and can hit up to four other enemies. When used in tight quarters against groups of enemies, the Twisted Arbalest can be incredibly effective, but it’s difficult to recommend using it against strong single entities, such asthe Red Princeor other bosses.

As far as the weapon mod is concerned, Guardian’s Call simply empowers the primary attack, causing it to deal even more damage. Upon activating the mod, Twisted Arbalest fires a modified projectile that highlights all the targets it hits and calls down energy swords to strike each of them moments later. These energy swords deal a flat 100 damage a pop and, perhaps even more importantly, cause enemies in a small radius around them to become staggered. Needless to say, the mod is best used against stronger targets that can withstand the Twisted Arbalest’s regular attacks.

The Cube Gun is a Hand Gun that can be crafted using the Conflux Prism, a special material that drops upon defeating theLabyrinth Sentinel. The gun’s fast rate of fire and small magazine size means that you’re going to run out of ammo in no time, however, the Cube Gun has a neat passive effect that prevents that from happening when used wisely. Namely, each projectile fired by the gun returns to the user and can be fired again immediately. This allows the Cube Gun to be fired indefinitely at close range, or at least until the weapon overheats.

The Cube Gun’s unique weapon mod goes by the name of Cube Shield and does exactly what it says on the tin. Upon activation, the shield lasts 15 seconds and can absorb up to 500 damage while it’s up. As an added bonus, the mod can be activated again, allowing you to fire the shield at enemy targets. The shield’s damage varies depending on how many projectiles it managed to absorb during the initial 15-second window.

Deceit is a Long Gun that can be crafted using the Imposter’s Heart, a special material that drops upon defeatingFaelinin Losomn. Make sure youchoose Faelin over Faerin, otherwise you’ll miss out on this weapon. Deceit is a long-range rifle that fires two devastating rails with every pull of the trigger. The rails deal an absurd amount of damage, however, you can’t score Weak Spot hits with them. That’s a bit of a shame, but ultimately understandable given their already high damage. Ideally, you’ll want to use Deceit primarily against bosses likeAbominationor similarly tough enemies since its slow rate of fire makes it unsuitable against swarms or smaller targets.

Cube Gun Remnant 2

Deceit’s weapon mod, Ouroboros, is a pretty strange one. Upon activation, the mod summons three sword fragments around the player for 30 seconds. Every time you perform a melee attack, it consumes one of the fragments, allowing the gun to score Weak Spot hits for a few seconds. Charging a melee attack consumes all three fragments at once. While the mod makes Deceit even deadlier than usual, it feels a bit awkward to have to use your melee weapon in order to empower your gun. That said, we can’t really argue with the high damage output.

4Stonebreaker

Stonebreaker is a melee weapon that can be crafted using the Hollow Heart, a special material that drops upon defeating the Corruptor in Yaesha without disabling the Guardian. This massive greatsword has the highest base damage out of any melee weapon in Remnant 2 and, when charged, summons small shockwaves for even more damage. The drawback is that Stonebreaker is a very slow weapon, although that is to be expected given its impressive size.

The ability to unleash shockwaves comes courtesy of Faultline, Stonebreaker’s unique weapon mod. Each shockwave deals a respectable 115 damage and you can use that ability as often as you like since it doesn’t have a cooldown. However, charging the weapon and firing off a shockwave will drain 35 points of Stamina, so you won’t be able to spam it for too long unless you have the right equipment. You’ll need the Endurance and Recovery traits to get the most out of this weapon.

3Merciless

Merciless is a Long Gun that can be crafted using the Crimson Membrane, a special material that drops from the Ravager in Yaesha if you kill it after it eats the doe. This is one of the few weapons in Remnant 2 that inflicts Bleeding, a strong debuff that causes damage over time. Merciless inflicts Bleeding with its primary attack rather than its mod, however, the effect will only apply when the reticle is fully compressed. This isn’t a huge drawback, but it does mean that weapon won’t apply Bleeding at all times.

Compared to the primary attack, the weapon mod requires a fair bit more accuracy. Bloodline allows Merciless to fire a blast that penetrates through all targets caught in its path, dealing 150 damage to each of them. The blast also staggers targets and comes with a 25% Critical damage bonus. Not just that, but its damage increases by 50% each time it passes through an enemy. Granted, it can be difficult to line up multiple enemies in order to make the most out of the blast, so you can usually expect to hit two or three enemies with it, at most.

2Nightfall

Nightfall is a Long Gun that can be crafted using the Cursed Dream Silks, a special material that drops upon defeatingThe Nightweaverin Losomn. At first glance, the weapon’s primary attack may not seem all that impressive because it doesn’t have any of the fancy effects you can find on other guns. However, Nightfall is well-rounded, reliable, and has a higher-than-normal chance to stagger enemies with every shot. While gimmicky effects can come in handy, sometimes all you really need is a good old solid weapon, and that’s exactly what you’re getting here.

Once you take Nightfall’s mod into consideration, you’ll gain an entirely new appreciation for this weapon. Upon activating Dreadwalker, Nightfall becomes fully automatic, gains infinite ammo, 10% Lifesteal, and a 35% increased rate of fire for 10 seconds. During that 10-second window, the gun becomes an absolute beast that can tear down most opponents with ease. In addition, Dreadwalker makes the player significantly more difficult to hit, allowing you to make full use of the damage burst without having to worry about survivability.

1Alpha/Omega

Alpha/Omega is a Long Gun that can be crafted using the Forgotten Memory, a special material that drops upon defeating Annihilation at the end of the game. This is a very powerful rail gun capable of firing projectiles that can travel through multiple targets. When repeatedly hitting the same target, Alpha/Omega’s damage will gradually increase with every shot. The damage bonus is capped at only five stacks, but that’s still more than enough damage to put a serious dent into a boss or outright kill most smaller targets.

As good as the primary attack is, the unique weapon mod might be even better. Beta Ray can be used to Brand a target for 30 seconds, which can be later detonated for 225 damage. Detonating the Brand is a bit gimmicky since it requires players to either reload or swap weapons, but at least you have some control over when it goes off. Additional Brands on the same target will only do 50% damage, but you can place up to three of them. Aside from dealing a significant amount of damage, Beta Ray also refunds a portion of your ammo and mod power whenever it manages to kill a target.
