The promise of being able to travel to different planets and top-tier combat were all delivered with only a capped 30 frames-per-second caveat. For some this was quite a big deal, players want the best experience possible especially in a title that is focused on combat and exploration.

Square Enix opted to give their players two options: Graphics Mode which will favor a higher resolution that can output 4K or near it but with only 30 fps, and Performance Mode which is the other way around by having 60 fps with a modest 1080p resolution. Trading off one for the other could impact the way people play games.
It was only a matter of time before the fragile peace between Xbox fanboys and PlayStation loyalists broke, both parties are back at throwing insults over their favorite hardware which is petty.
