But we all know why you’re here. You want the glory and recognition that comes with being a striker, the offensive attacker that has the sexy job of scoring as many goals as possible from kickoff to full-time.

Striker Controls

Out of everything you need to know in REMATCH, the tutorial probably gets you best prepared to play striker over everything else. This makes sense, since shooting is what everyone wants to do. Still, the training moves quickly, and it wouldn’t be shocking if you feel like you need to go back over a thing or two.

For a striker, the most important things to learn are the shooting controls, of course. But it’s not as simple as justaim, pull the R2 trigger, and shoot. This really will only get you so far.

REMATCH volley shot

In addition to the basic shot, it’s also crucial to memorize and understand the importance of the one-timer volley. For this, move into the blue circle on the groundas an airborne lob approaches you, thenpress Square while holding the left stick in your desired directionto immediately fire off a quick volley or header.

Don’t forget about the Magnus shot, either. For this one, hold R2 to charge, thenaim with the left stick in the direction that you want the ball to curve. This takes some practice, but you’ll eventually be bending it like Beckham, as all the kids still say. Use this to angle a shot around defenders, or to cause the goalie to misjudge your attempt.

Tips For Playing Striker

These five tips below will get you on the scoreboard in no time.

Be Ready To Leak Out And Run

As a striker, defense won’t be your main priority. Still, it can be helpful for you to contribute in the backfield from time to time.Hang around midfieldand lend your support to challenge crosses or snag loose balls.

This positioning can lead to you gaining a massive advantage on the counterattack if you play your cards right as well.

Here’s everything you may earn during REMATCH’s opening season

Offsides doesn’t exist in REMATCH, so you might be tempted to just perpetually hang out near the opposing goal and wait for a teammate to lob a pass your way. While thiscanwork, a defensive player on the other team will key in on this and stick close enough to disrupt you whenever the ball comes back your way.

Instead, shrinking the field on defense, thenimmediatelyleaking out and sprinting back downfieldwhen your team recovers the ball can work wonders.

Often, you’ll be able to get past the last defender and be wide open for a breakaway goal. Even better if you deploy yourextra effort speed boost by double-tapping L1to create even more space for yourself.

Make sure you’re also pressingR3 to call for the ballif you’re wide open from a leak-out like this. Many times in REMATCH, teammates simply won’t give you the ball or even look in your direction if you’re not constantly calling for a pass when you’re open.

Don’t Be Selfish

If only the majority of my REMATCH Quick Play teammates could read this section too.Don’t be greedy, and don’t try to be the hero. I know, a lot of you are playing this game to score goals and get that dopamine rush. But at the end of the day, you’re usually not going to win if you don’t work as a team, and this goes doubly for strikers.

Somany times, I’ve watched in frustration as someone on my squad tries to take the ball coast to coast by themselves, only to get caught, tackled, and turn the ball over before they can get a shot off. Don’t be this person. Players in REMATCH are faster when they aren’t controlling the ball, so don’t attempt to do too much or risk being punished for your cockiness.

Yes, the striker is the one who typically scores the majority of your team’s goals, but they still don’t do it alone.Coordinate with your teammates who are running with you on the attack. If you’re being heavily defended, center a cross or lobto your closest teammate.

There are times when being a ballhog can pay off if you know what you’re doing, but fluid ball movement and setting one another up will lead to more success. Shoot if you’re open, or if you can create the space you need to get off a good shot, butpass out to your teammates if nothing is there.

Use Rebound Shots And Passes

Since REMATCH is aRocket League-like game, the field is surrounded by a barrier that prevents the ball from ever going out of bounds. And just like Rocket League once again, you can use this fact to your advantage.

As you continue to learn the game, rebounds will become massive. With these, you’ll intentionally miss a shot either too wide or too high, with the idea that you’llrecollect it after it bounces off the wall. Why would you do this? Well, to confuse the keeper and the other defenders, of course.

REMATCH: How To Unlock Ronaldinho

Big Ronnie is back on the pitch, if you have some Quants to spare.

You’ll inherently find yourself in a lot of breakaway opportunities in REMATCH as a striker, but it’s not extremely difficult for the keeper to stop your shot in its tracks if you’re just dribbling straight in and shooting. Instead, you’re going to have to get a bit more crafty.

Intentionally shooting off the wall but stillcloseto the net can trick the goalie into diving for a save that they simply aren’t able to reach. When this happens, you’ll have the chance torecollect the ball and shoot on a now completely wide-open netsince the keeper dove out of position. What a rookie.

Additionally, you canuse rebounds as passesto try to get the exact same result. If you have a tough angle on one side of the field, launch a “shot” above the goal that will actually function as a pass to your teammate on the opposite side of the pitch. This quick misdirection is often enough to get your buddy a wide-open shot as the opponents scramble to find where the ball went.

Leverage Your Dribble Moves

Dribble movesin REMATCH aren’t super complicated, but it’s easy to forget about them in the heat of a live contest. This is the downfall of many an aspiring striker, who will often drive straight into the defense instead of using the bag of tricks the game gives you.

The rainbow kick is the move most often used by players, and it definitely has its uses. There’s not a surefire way for the defense to counter a well-placed rainbow, so it makes sense why so many on the servers are currently spamming it.Use this kick to get behind the defenseandset up an open shot on net upon recovery.

Don’t forget about your other dribble options too, though. The simplest and often most effective is your basic ball push, which you’re able to send in any direction you’reholding the left stick as you tap X. This sends the ball away from your feet about 5 yards, and you’ll then move to recover it and are free to continue as you please.

Think of it as a quick juke maneuver. Defenders are already so used to anticipating rainbows that you can often times just push the ball left or right andimmediatelybe wide-open.

Learn No-Look Shots

The shot aiming mechanic in REMATCH is a cool idea. Using a third-person shooter-like crosshair, youaim at your target and pull R2 to launch your shot. This feels nice, but it can also be a bit cumbersome when spinning your camera around like crazy to track the ball and watch for an incoming cross from your teammate at the same time.

Inevitably and unfortunately, you’re often going to have a pass sent your way when your camera simply is not in position to allow you to fire a shot on goal, even if you’re in the perfect position to score by every other metric. This is where the no-look “shot” comes into play.

If you’re ball watching, a lob comes your way, and you want to immediately volley the ball towards the net despite your camera facing the sideline, you still have one choice.Head to the glowing blue landing spot on the fieldwhere the ball will be,hold Square, and angle your left stick towards the net.

Depending on the height of the ball, this couldsend a pass towards the goalthat can still find the net if your pace and angle are pure. When in the perfect position, this can alsosend a header in the direction your stick is pointing, which is the optimal outcome. The header will have more speed behind it than the passing option.

It feels counterintuitive to use the passing button in this situation to get a no-look shot on target, but it will often be your only option if you don’t have time to aim a full R2 shot attempt.
