There’s another trapper in a similar predicament in the wild, who you’re able to run into after saving him in Strawberry. That trapper will offer to buy you anything in Cooper’s General Store. But the trapper you save near Roanoke Ridge has a better reward: a free firearm of your choice.

Just like with the trappers stuck in their traps, you might come across Norbert out in the wild. Poor Norbert has been bitten by a snake, and if you’re feeling charitable, you’re able to either suck out the venom from his leg or offer him a health cure. Crafting is a major aspect of outlaw life, it seems. To craft new and unique ways to fill your enemies with holes, you’ll need to find pamphlets. To get the pamphlet for the Explosive Slug ammunition, you’ll need to find a small, innocent-looking house north of Tumbleweed and south of Rathskeller Fork.
Once you walk up, the house will explode; it turns out it belonged to an alchemist.
Inside you’ll finda lock box with the Explosive Slug pamphlet.Combine animal fat and a shotgun slug shell for a round that adds extra damage, RNG, and accuracy. These slug rounds can only be acquired by crafting, so you’ll need to find the hot-wired house first.
7Treasure Hunter With A High Stakes Treasure Map
You’ll have to complete the mission All That Glitters to trigger this encounter and then hogtie or kill the poor treasure hunter who crosses your path. The map is rumored to be cursed, which makes sense considering the last guy to lay hands on it is now tied up or murdered.
Follow the map’s clues to Cumberland Falls, then follow that map to Barrow Lagoon, and finally followthatmap to a rock formation outside of Fort Wallace.Between the rocks, you’ll find three gold bars,which you’re able to sell to a fence for an easy $500 each. You’ll also get $1,500 for completing all three pieces of the map, netting you some decent money.

There are three random encounters where you’ll find women trapped under dead horses. It’s surprisingly common in the wild west. Helping each woman escape the corpse and offering them a ride to their destination will get you some jewelry as a reward, which is nice. But there’s a glitch that occasionally occurs with one encounter that could get you a Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Fox Trotter before the epilogue: the woman who is trapped and asked to be taken to Emerald Ranch.

Sometimes, when this encounter loads into the map,the horse has a small chance of spawning alive and unclaimed, meaning you may just take it for yourself. This breed of horse has pretty good speed and handling, and getting it for free (even if it is a glitch) is nothing to ignore. Worst case, the horse doesn’t spawn, and you still get to walk away with some jewelry.

There are multiple horse races you can wander into, and winning them will permanently increase your own horse’s speed. Looting the drunken man while he’s unconscious or after killing him lowers your honor. But, if you ignore him or decline his challenge, your honor will increase. To get eitherthe Volcanic Pistol or an M1899 Pistol, decline his duel, then follow and heckle him. He’ll pick a fight again, and you can knock him out to loot what he has.The drunken man will have the Volcanic Pistol, unless you’ve already found one, in which case he’ll have an M1899 Pistol.
3Man Poisoned By Plant
Oleander Sage
Who knew Arthur was an herbalist? While wandering around New Hanover or Scarlett Meadows, you might overhear a man shouting in pain. Investigate and help him out, and he’ll direct you to the culprit of his suffering: Oleander Sage, which he apparently ate. Oleander Sage is one of the most poisonous plants, and eating it will do serious damage to your health.
Even if your health is maxed out, eating more than four of these plants will outright kill you. On the plus side, it’s also an incredibly potent poison you canuse to craft Poison Throwing Knives and Poison Arrows. Oleander Sage is also relatively rare, only being found at Macomb’s End, the Kamassa River, and Lemoyne.
2Shooting Competitions
You can find some friendly competition with other gunslingers in The Heartlands, Big Valley, Rio Bravo, Ringneck Creek, and Scarlett Meadows as a quick way to make some money. These shooting competitions task you with shooting as many bottles as possible within time limits without missing a shot. If you win, you’ll be invited to double down and try your luck with birds in flight for a harder target. If you’re a good shot,this is a great way to make a buck,and there areseveral of these competitions spread out around the map, so you’ll always be able to find one quickly if you need to make money.
Sabotaging the targets will hurt your honor, but sometimes an outlaw’s got to do what an outlaw’s got to do.

Run into Willy Curlls inside the Rhodes Parlour House and call his bluff to walk away with some powerful weapons. Willy will brag about being a gunslinger and challenge the entire parlor to a duel. If you accept, Willy will get pretty nervous. You can disarm Willy to gain some honor, or kill him during the duel and lose honor.
The number of possible rewards and the low effort needed for this encounter make it the best in the game.
Regardless of your choice,you have a chance at looting aSchofield Revolver, M1899 Pistol, Volcanic Pistol, or Double-Action Revolverfor free, even if you already have one.The Schofield Revolver, in particular, is a tempting reward with high damage, and so is the Volcanic Pistol, which has pretty decent accuracy.
