James Gunn’sSuperman, set for a July 2025 release, recently saw the airing of its first teaser trailer, something which has led to a range of theories from fans. Seen taking arguably the biggest mantle in the new DCU will be David Corenswet.

However, alongside him will be Rachel Brosnahan, taking on the role of the Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane. Brosnahan’s take on the character, as proved by the trailer, appears to be unhindered by the shackles of the one Amy Adams portrayed, opposite Henry Cavill.
While the previous iteration was undoubtedly weighed down due to multiple factors, this one is set to show Lois Lane in all of her glory.

Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane might be a more comic-accurate version of the character
One of the most significant differences betweenRachel Brosnahan’sportrayal and previous iterations lies in the film’s approach. James Gunn’sSupermanisn’t an origin story. This allows Lois to exist in her full glory, independent of Superman’s journey of self-discovery.
Amy Adams’ Lois in the DC Extended Universe (Man of Steel,Batman v Superman,Justice League) showed promise but was underutilized. She often played a secondary role in Clark Kent’s narrative, and the focus on Superman’s origin and Kryptonian legacy limited her character’s depth.

Gunn’s Lois, however, emerges as a modern, sharp-witted reporter at the Daily Planet. In early teasers, Brosnahan exudes confidence, leading her team with Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard. Her presence complements Superman’s rather than being overshadowed by it.
James Gunn believes hisSupermanis a story about ‘humanity’
WhileDavid Corenswet’sSuperman is undoubtedly once again at the center of the narration, James Gunn described his movie as a story about humanity: (via EW)
This project is so much more than just another movie to me. It’s a story about humanity, about what it means to be a hero in a world that doesn’t always make it easy to be one.

This perspective places Lois Lane as a vital anchor for Superman’s dual identity, balancing his Kryptonian heritage and human upbringing.

It not only means a more grounded project that features a broader narrative, but it also increases the scope ofLois Lane playing a major part.
Supermanreleases on June 22, 2025, and all eyes are on Metropolis to see Brosnahan bring Lois Lane to life like never before.
