Power Rangers: Battle for the Gridhad arocky launch. It had a small cast of characters, poor graphics, and no voice acting. Two of these issues have been (at least partially) rectified. The characters inBattle for the Gridare now appropriately chatty, and the roster is starting to fill in–six new characters were added in the game’s first season of post-launch content. Today, we get a glimpse of three more new characters: Anubis “Doggie” Cruger, Eric Myers, and Dai Shi. Anubis is available now–he costs $5.99. Alternatively, you can get the season 2 pass (and all three characters) for $14.99. Check out the trailer below.

In addition to the three new characters, the trailer reveals a new ultra and a new stage. The ultra is Delta Squad Megazord, and in typicalBattle for the Gridfashion, it fills the screen with a bunch of crazy effects and attacks. The new stage is the Space Patrol Delta Base–a sort of training ground for Power Ranger recruits. Both the stage and the ultra are available now, and they’re both free.

Despite the technical issuesBattle for the Gridhad at launch, the game always featured exciting 3 v 3 combat. The game’s lead combat designer,Daniel Maniago, is one of the bestMarvel vs. Capcomplayers ever, and this release borrows heavily from many of the ideas present in that classic fighting game series. For example, much likeMarvel vs. Capcom,Battle for the Gridutilizes a tag system to extend combos and create safe pressure. Both games also feature a bunch of cool super moves that increase damage.

Basically, it’s too bad thatBattle for the Gridwas a little rushed out on release. There are a lot of good ideas in this game, and the source material is very fertile. In any case, it’s good to see that it’s continuing to receive post-launch support, and I hope to see the game continue to make meaningful improvements.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Gridhas been out for PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch since last spring. It released for PC via Steam just today, however. The base game costs $19.99.
