Sometimes, when a player catches a Pokemon, they will see a message appear. The message will reveal that the Pokemon was actually a Ditto in hiding! This is a huge win for players as Ditto can be a pretty useful Pokemon to have on hand, not to mention there are a few different quests in the game that ask players to catch the purple blob.

How To Catch A Ditto
There are some things to keep in mind while hunting for your very own Ditto. First, all instances of a Ditto appearance are shared among players. If one person catches a Pokemon and it is revealed to be Ditto, that Pokemon will be a Ditto for all players. This is a good thing to keep in mind, as searching for the Pokemon in groups or with friends can save a lot of time. If you’re in dire need of a Ditto, try to limit your catches to those Pokemon shown in the table above as they’re the only guaranteed way to catch one.
Shiny Ditto can be found in the game, but it is important to note that a shiny Ditto will only be revealed as a shiny after it is caught. If players find the shiny form of one of Ditto’s many disguises, it will not be a Ditto as the Pokemon cannot disguise itself in a shiny form.
