The firstPhantom Braveallowed Marona to summon several phantoms from different classes to optimize party composition and create countless strategies to secure victory ingrid-based JRPG battles.

Aside from serving as cannon fodder on the battlefield, some classes also moonlight as healers, merchants, and whatnot at the base of operations.Phantom Brave: The Lost Heroreturns this feature but modernizes it by introducing facilities.

10 Best 2D JRPGs You Need to Play

When it comes to JRPGs, there’s an embarrassment of riches. But here are some of the very best contenders from recent years.

If you want to use the Shop back on Skullrock Island, you’ll need to create a Merchant. If item salvaging is your thing, an Angler is your best bet. And if you’re looking to fuse items to craft stronger versions, you’ll need to call for your Granny. Yep, that’s an actual class name.

TheJRPGclearly explains when a new facility can be unlocked and what class is required.

Still, some finer details aren’t as obvious, and that’s where I come in. Let me walk you through all the facilities inPhantom Brave: The Lost Hero.

The Facilities in Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero

In total,Phantom Brave: The Lost Herofeatures 15 facilities, each with its own quirks. Initially, you start with Create Character and Data facilitiesassigned to Marona and Apricot, respectively.

Create Character is pretty self-explanatory and is the most essential facility for expanding your roster of characters and unlocking new features.

Data is an internal record of the game, showcasing player progress like hours played, highest character level, and biggest damage dealt, as well as all registered characters, items, events, illustrations, and trophies.

Right in the first chapter, you’re able to unlock three new facilities. As you progress through the game, more characters become available, and new corresponding facilities are unlocked by creating them.

Shop Facility

To unlock the Shop inPhantom Brave: The Lost Hero, you’ll need to create a Merchant character. Once created, you may buy and sell items and even find some rare goods. Items refresh as you complete stages or if you use the Merchant Stock command in battle.

The item level available for purchase depends on the Merchant’s level. If you want to buy stronger items, consider leveling up your Merchant. Keep in mind, though, that prices will rise exponentially as higher-level items appear in the Shop.

Skills Facility

You’ll need to create either a Fighter or a Striker to unlock Skills.Thisfacility teaches new skills and abilitiesto characters as they reach certain level thresholds or by using scrolls.

There’s nothing more to add here besides the fact that this facility is essential for game progression. Eventually, I stopped using Fighters or Strikers in my party but kept them around on the island to utilize their facility.

Heal Facility

If a character dies in battle, they can still be resurrected with skills or by returning to Skullrock Island. However, if a dead character is thrown out of bounds (OB), they can only be brought back using the Heal facility.

8 Most Satisfying JRPG Progression Systems

Leveling up is just the beginning.

You’ll need to create a Healer to unlock this facility. Then, to restore a character, you’ll need to invest BOR—the in-game currency—and voilà, the fallen hero is back in action.

Salvage Facility

An Angler might not be the best combatant unit on the roster. Still, their utility asthe creator of the Salvage facilitymade my journey inPhantom Brave: The Lost Heromuch easier.

To salvage, select an area (more are unlocked as you progress) and send a crew of NPCs. After a set amount of time, they return with an item corresponding to that area.

The item’s level depends on the Angler’s level, which gave me plenty of incentive to max out this character. Each time a new item was salvaged, it came with massive attributes, allowing me to gear up my entire party to the teeth.

Juice Bar Facility

I heavily relied on the Juice Bar to enhance my Salvage facility, which was unlocked after creating a Chef. This creative system allows you to allocate a percentage of experiencegained from defeating monsters to characters deployed in battle or save it in the Juice Bar to distribute as you see fit later.

The best part? The Juice Bar’s potential far exceeds any experience gained on the battlefield. You can upgrade drinks to collect up to 500% of the base experience, significantly speeding up the leveling process.

As my Juice Bar filled up, I funneled the experience into my Angler, boosting the level of salvaged items. It was a foolproof strategy for world domination.

Marina Facility

The Marina is automatically unlocked in Chapter 3.This facility can’t be deactivated since it uses Apricot as a medium, and the protagonist is always in the party.

In the Marina, you’re able to choose between various Pirate Ship types, each offering specific bonuseslike EXP Gain or increased ATK and DEF. You can enhance each ship by delivering items to improve the buffs they provide and select a style to determine which party members benefit from the buffs.

One of my favorite leveling tricks involved using the pirate style Goin' Solo, which buffs only a single character by 100%, alongside the ship The Aprile, which increases EXP gain. I’d have this chosen character defeat all enemies, maximizing the Juice Bar experience earnings.

Requests Facility

The Requests facility is unlocked by reaching Chapter 3, andit’s essentially a quest feature. There are two types of requests:delivery and battle. Delivery requests require you to hand over a specific type of item, often with a minimum level requirement.

9 Best JRPGs With Base Building

Nothing beats expanding your base before facing off against a god.

As you can imagine, battle requests pit you against enemies in a previously visited stage. The rewards for Requests range from BOR and Mana to items and Skill Scrolls.

I highly recommend tackling all the battle requests as soon as they’re available, especially early on, since they offer an exorbitant amount of BOR relative to what you’ll have at the time.

Gadgets Facility

Starting in Chapter 3, you can createthe Engineer class responsible for the Gadgets facility. By this point,Phantom Brave: The Lost Herowill have introduced Gadgets, which are tools used in battle to give you an extra edge, whether offensively or for utility purposes.

The Engineer’s Gadgets are researched by investing BOR and summoned in battle via Apricot’s commands. You can then use them by proximity or by confining a phantom in them.

The maximum level of Gadgets increases based on Apricot’s level, so if you want to make the most of these tools, you’ll need to level up the little captain. Gadgets are particularly powerful, especially in the early stages of the game.

Titles Facility

Phantom Brave: The Lost Herotaught me that when I get older, I’ll switch classes—that’s fancy. The Old Man class grants access to the Titles facility, a feature also present inthe firstPhantom Brave.

Titles can increase or decrease a character’s or weapon’s stats by a fixed percentage. They can also be allocated to dungeons to increase their level and floor count, another facility unlocked later in the game.

you’re able to switch titles between characters and items without any loss. However, if you assign a title to a dungeon, it’s lost permanently until you clear all the floors. Despite being a powerful facility, I didn’t explore it as much as I would’ve liked.

Music Facility

The Music facility doesn’t offer any combat utility or character progression, but it lets you replay all the game’s beautiful tracks. To acquire new sheet music, you’ll need to purchase it from the Rare Goods section of the Shop, which refreshes every new chapter.

10 Best Open World JRPGs

Open-world JRPGs aren’t the most common thing, but they’re introducing dazzling new worlds for players to explore.

Nothing could be more fitting to construct the facility than creating a Musician character. you’re able to also change the Base Music to any other track you’ve unlocked, refreshing your long stay on Skullrock Island.

Fusion Facility

The kind but mightyGranny class is responsible for the Fusion Facility, one of the priciest yet most powerful features for upgrading your items inPhantom Brave: The Lost Hero.

Items in the game are confusing, as instead of fixed stats, they show percentages that determine the actual value. However, you can furtherstrengthen them by fusing two items with high stats.Fusion costs Mana, a resource earned after battles.

Another way to earn Mana is by using the second option in the Fusion Facility, called Exchange Mana. Here, you destroy an item in exchange for a portion of Mana and its corresponding title. It’s a practical way to dispose of old items if you don’t need the BOR.

Create Dungeon Facility

In Chapter 4, you also unlockthe Explorer class, which allows you to create procedurally generated dungeonsand extendPhantom Brave: The Lost Hero’splaytime infinitely. To create dungeons, you’ll need maps easily obtained as rewards after completing stages.

Each map indicates the types of items available on each floor and the reward upon completion, which is an item with a player-made title. The title and item level improve with each new floor, but you can’t obtain the reward without finishing all the floors.

Using the Title Facility, you can change a dungeon’s moniker, increasing the average enemy level and the number of floors.

InPhantom Brave, this feature was known as Item World, and its sole purpose was to strengthen characters and items. In the sequel, the purpose of Dungeons remains the same. Some can extend to hundreds of floors and take dozens of hours to complete.

Books & Eggs Facility

Finally, the last facility, calledBooks & Eggs, is unlocked automatically upon reaching Chapter 8.This facility enables theAwaken and Reincarnate options inPhantom Brave: The Lost Hero. Both features are essential to taking your characters' power to the next level.

To Awaken, you’ll need a Changebook item, while to Reincarnate, you’ll need an Egg—hence the facility’s name. We have a dedicated guide for this facility’s function, so if you’d like to make full use of it, we recommend checking it out.

That’s all fifteen facilities available inPhantom Brave: The Lost Hero, each with its own advantages but all designed to enrich your gameplay, strengthen your phantoms, and help you reach that coveted level 9999 to pump your stats into the seven-digit range.

10 JRPG NPCs We All Love To Hate

JRPG characters like Professor Hojo or Preceptor Seluvis are so absolutely awful that you can’t help but love them.
