Part 1 and 2 of The House of the Dead Games Are Getting Remakes

According to Polish siteGraczpospolita, Forever Entertainment has signed a new contract with SEGA to bringThe House of the Dead: RemakeandThe House of the Dead 2: Remaketo unspecified consoles.

You might recall December 2019 brought news that Forever Entertainment was launchingremakes ofPanzer Dragoon,and PanzerDragoon II Zwei.Months later we saw thetrailers for these arrive at E3 2019with the games due to be heading to the Nintendo Switch.

According to the source, the remakes ofThe House of the Deadgames will introduce updated graphics and slightly modified gameplay. However, the original script of the game will remain intact. Forever Entertainment should be presenting some content of some form from the first game in the coming months.

SEGA still own the IP, but Forever Entertainment is publishing the titles as well as co-financing and co-producing them. TA Publishing is also co-financing the titles.

Artur Grzegorczyn and Forever Entertainmentestablished a cooperationto create MegaPixel Studio, they aim to port and publish new games on the Switch, PS4, and Xbox One and are creatingThe House of the Deadremakes.

The House of the Deadgames were developed by Sega AM1 and originally launched in 1996 in Japan. Later they landed internationally in 1997. The game was a rail shooter light gun game which saw players shooting hordes of zombies as they attempt to survive. Certain points offered players options to change the path of where they head to next in the level.The House of the Dead 2arrived in arcades in 1998 and then later to Dreamcast in 1999. There were another three sequels,The House of the Dead III, The House of the Dead 4,andThe House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn.

No platforms have been specified forTheHouse of the Dead: RemakeandTheHouse of the Dead 2: Remake,but considering the last remakes from Forever Entertainment ended up on the Nintendo Switch we can expect to see the games heading to that platform. There’s also no confirmed release date, but the first part of the series is due to be premiered “before the end of 2020.”
