Helldivers 2, the shooter game from Arrowhead Game Studios, is now available on PlayStation 5 and PC, and the game is already one of the best titles released this year. The game has been selling copies like hotcakes and has become the biggest PlayStation Studios launch ever on Steam.
The game is also giving some strong competition to the recently releasedPokemon-like open-world survival titlePalworld,which took the gaming world by storm, and players are now comparing both the titles and their sales, despite the games being in completely different genres and audiences.
Helldivers 2 and Palworld Go Head-to-Head
Palworldis an action-adventure open-world survival game set in a fantasy land. The game has been a massive success, selling over a million copies in just 8 hours of its release, booking the spot as the most played game in the world, and further selling more than 8 million copies in under a week.
Helldivers 2has been out for four days and is already the top-selling game onSteam, leaving behindPalworld. A fan took to X/Twitter and stated thatPalworldis trying to fight back after theHelldiverssequel took the number one spot, and another playerrepliedthat thePokemon-like game might have already won as it has sold 12 million copies on Steam and theHelldiverssequel hasn’t even“reached 500k.”
Just Like Palworld, Helldivers 2 is too Popular for its Own Good
Helldiversdeveloper Arrowhead’s CEO hassaidthat the sequel has already sold around 1 million copies, acknowledging that the“gap is still very large.”
This comparison between both games is understandable as both titles have been well received by players and garnered a large player base in just a few days, but it is also pointless as the games are in different genres, with one being RPG survival and the other a third-person shooter.

Pocketpair’s title has also seen a decline in player count – nearly two-thirds of its players in two weeks – and it might suggest that the game might be losing the hype around it and developers will need to ramp up things to keep the game interesting for players.
The developer Pocketpair has already announced new features and content coming to the game, and it might bring players back. TheHelldiverssequel has seen a strong launch, and the developer wants to make it the“best co-op game of all time,”so the competition is going to be intense.
