Employees Filing Notices They Will Be Sick On The Day Of Monster Hunter Wilds' Release
Over on Twitter/X, Pocketpair Inc. announced (viaAutomaton) that February 28 will be a special, non-working holiday at their office.
The announcement reads (via Google Translate), “To all employees, Pocket Pair Inc. Notice of Special Leave Due to a number of reports from employees stating that they might feel unwell tomorrow, we have decided to establish a special leave for February 28.”
Excluding some unnamed departments, all employees are allowed to take part of this special holiday. Pocketpair also noted that work on Palworld and Craftopia is unaffected and proceeding “smoothly.”
This isn’t the first time the studio has given a special non-working holiday for big-game releases, as a few years ago,the studio also gave employees the day off in order to play Elden Ring.

In just a year since its release, Palworld has now amassed over 32 million players.
This isn’t that rare of an occurrence in Japan, as in years past, employers would give staff the day off to play the latest Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest game. When a new entry for Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest was released, absences and tardiness among students and employees skyrocketed.
